It isn't every vacation day that an event will leave an enduring fond impression on you and your family. Not knowing what to expect, we entered the shop/gun-range/history & cultural center and met with Deputy Alex. He was finishing up some work behind the counter but was quick to greet us. There was no pressure to sell you anything, just dialogues on guns, its capabilities, capacities and commencement of usage. As we talked to Deputy Alex, our conversation got more interesting by the minute. Our eyes were directed to a wall display of firearms with synopses written under each. Then there was the Gatling Gun, which he said that we could fire that one too. Boy, did our eyes got bigger. He knew his trade well and he had a straight forward, simple and modest tone throughout his teaching and professional instruction. At no time did we felt unsafe under his watching eyes as we took to the range, and that includes an 8 year old boy who has zero firearm experience. The experience were incredibly rewarding. I handled the musket and the old Henry and came away with a deeper understanding of how our boys fought during those dark times. This isn't just a gun range but American history preserved and experienced. Though very knowledgeable in his trade, Deputy Alex knew what he knew and when asked beyond that scope, he did not pop smoke at me but redirected me to Deputy Junior who was aptly able to satiate my historical curiosities. At the end of the, I had only one question left, "Where's...
Read moreWhile vacationing in Wyoming from Maryland my sons saw the advertisement and wanted to visit Cody Firearms. My oldest (18) had already picked out the guns he wanted to shoot. My youngest (14) has never shot more than BB guns or airsoft. Customer service was excellent at Cody Firearms!! The instructors went over safety and answered questions. We were allowed to watch & video the boys on the range. They told us history about each weapon. Reviewed safety & instruction again on the range & helped each son with their weapons. They were so patient with my youngest and assisted both in shooting properly. This was definitely the highlight of their Wyoming visit!! Highly recommend this experience...
Read moreWhat a cool experience! We are a family of firearms and history enthusiasts and this was such a fun day! Took the whole family (kids ages 10, 12, and 14) and the kids each shot a couple and the adults did as well. Jim was our RSO and he was FANTASTIC! So patient with the kids in teaching them how to fire each one and encouraging them all the time! We stuck to some of the more "historical" fire arms (except our 10 year old). Very knowledgeable and kind staff and we felt completely safe as they do take firearm safety seriously (as they should)! It's pricey for sure but how many people do you know that can say they've shot a Gatling gun and a tommy gun? Definitely go...
