Where do I even start? This place blew me away. I only planned a two-night stop in Cody on my way to Yellowstone, but after staying here, I wished I'd scheduled more time.||||The Good Stuff:||Walking into that lobby was something else. Gorgeous rustic furniture with rich upholstery, oriental rugs, reclaimed wood everywhere, and a baby grand piano. There were fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies right at check-in. The reception clerk was so friendly and helpful and check in was a breeze. She made me feel like a valued guest.||||The Room:||I had a standard two-queen room. Both beds were super comfortable - seriously some of the best hotel beds I've experienced. Room was spacious enough, very clean, and had a cozy western vibe. Came with mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Everything worked perfectly. Great water pressure in the shower too, which matters more than people think!||||Amenities:||The free breakfast impressed me. Hot scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries - actual variety and quality. The lobby always had snacks, granola bars, and flavored water available.||Pool and hot tub are open 24 hours, which is awesome. I used both after long days exploring. There's also a hot tub and fitness room. The outdoor firepit was perfect for unwinding in the evenings - I met some other travelers there and had good conversations.||||They're pet-friendly (I saw several happy dogs during my stay), have free parking, and offer laundry facilities which came in handy.||||Solo Travel Notes:||As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe and comfortable here. The interior hallways, 24-hour front desk, and well-lit property gave me peace of mind. The lobby became my favorite spot to relax with a book in the evenings.||||Location:||Perfect spot for Yellowstone visitors - less than an hour to the east entrance. But Cody itself deserves your time! Old Trail Town is literally across the street (don't miss it). The famous Cody rodeo is a quarter mile away and you could hear the cheers from the hotel. Old Trail Town (a must see) is right across the road and Buffalo Bill Center is close by. ||||Things to Do:||River rafting on the Shoshone River, hiking, fishing, scenic drives - there's tons to do. The Beartooth Highway is supposed to be incredible (I didn't have time but heard amazing things). Take the Cody Trolley tour if you want a good overview of the area.||||Staff:||Everyone I met was genuinely nice and helpful. Not fake-nice - actually friendly people who seemed to enjoy their jobs. Made a real difference in my experience.||||The Environment:||They use reclaimed wood from old Yellowstone buildings in their construction, which is pretty cool. Eco-friendly beds and practices throughout. Nice to see a hotel that cares about sustainability without sacrificing comfort.||||Bottom Line:||This hotel combines luxury and authenticity in a way that just works. Great for couples, families, solo travelers - really anyone. The attention to detail, the comfort level, the location, and the hospitality all came together perfectly. I'm definitely coming back, and next time I'm staying longer.||||Would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Worth...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about this place! I was just passing through Cody on my way to Yellowstone, but my two nights here ended up being a real highlight of the trip.
The second I walked through the door, there were chocolate chip cookies on a table to greet me. I mean, come on - how can you not love that? The woman at the front desk was so sweet and helpful, answered all my questions about the area, and had me checked in within minutes.
My room was great. Really comfortable beds. I actually slept through the night which doesn't always happen when I travel. Everything was super clean, and I loved the western décor. Not cheesy at all, just warm and inviting. Had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker which was perfect for my needs.
The included breakfast was way better than I expected. They had hot scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, fresh fruit, cereals - the works. And throughout the day they keep granola bars and snacks out in the lobby. The cucumber water they have out was so good I kept going back for more!
I'm someone who loves a good swim after a long day, so I really appreciated that the pool and hot tub are open round the clock. Used both of them and they were spotless. There's also a fitness room if that's your thing, and this cozy firepit outside. As a woman traveling alone, I felt completely safe the entire time.
The location couldn't be better. You're less than an hour from Yellowstone's east entrance, and Old Trail Town is literally right across the street - definitely walk over there if you have time. The Cody Rodeo is 1/4 mile away and I could actually hear the crowd cheering from the hotel, which was fun. The Buffalo Bill Center is nearby too. There's horseback riding, river rafting, fishing, hiking - honestly you could spend a week in Cody and not run out of things to do.
Can we talk about that lobby for a second? It's gorgeous. There's a baby grand piano, these beautiful velvet and fabric sofas, oriental rugs - it feels upscale but still comfortable. I spent both evenings curled up in there with my book. WiFi worked great, parking was free and easy, and I liked that the hallways are inside the building.
Every single person I encountered was friendly and helpful. Not in a fake way - they genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. They gave me some great recommendations for places to eat and things to see.
Traveling solo I never felt unsafe. The common areas are welcoming if you want to be social, but your room gives you plenty of privacy when you need it.
I've stayed in probably hundreds of hotels at this point, and this one really stands out. Everything just worked - the comfort, the cleanliness, the location, the people. I'm already thinking about planning another trip out here just to spend more time exploring the area.
If you're heading to Yellowstone or anywhere in this part of Wyoming, do yourself a favor and book a room here. You won't be...
Read moreI gave this hotel a 5 star rating simply because I have stayed there many times and had great experiences until now. I don’t want to affect this hotels rating over one bad review. This hotel has great rooms, especially the suites. Very comfortable king beds, jetted tubs that fit two, a large shower, and kitchenette area. We always request room 126 or similar due it being pet friendly and on the first floor with its own private door to the outside of the hotel. It is nice to be able to walk the dog without walking through the public portions of the hotel. I specifically remember my wife making the reservation while I was driving through Rock Springs Wyoming. The reservation was made in late January. We arrived March 16th around 6:00 p.m. at the unmanned front desk. There was a phone on the desk that said push button for service. We push the button to get greeted by a lady with food hanging out of her mouth. After we wait for her to be able to talk legibly we told her our name for our reservation. She was not able find our reservation. From here forward, Rochelle (queen tattoo on arm) was just rude. She acted as if there was no possible way that any portion of the lost reservation was any fault but our own. We explained that we thought the rate was around $169 and the person we talked to was Andrew. She then argued and said they have never had an Andrew work for them and that she had worked there for several years. She quoted a rate of $179. Awhile after the unpleasant exchange and checking in, I decided to go out to the truck and look at the calendar that we wrote the reservation info on. Yes, it was Andrew and the rate $159 made on 1-28-2018 in the afternoon. I went back and told her about the info that I found. She says she will talk to her manager because she can only adjust the rate $10. Of course, no contact from her or the manager. It was very unpleasant starting our hotel experience with such negativity. Rochelle could have handled the situation so much better and friendlier. I don’t know if we misheard, maybe the guys name was Drew, Andy, I don’t know. I know for sure that we were talking to this hotel when we made the reservation because we always request the same suite, of which only this hotel has, and The Cody is the only Cody, WY hotel in my wife’s phone. Rochelle, you might be getting burned out and want to consider other career options. It was Mid-March, your slowest season, I can only imagine how pleasant you are in the summer months. I own a lodging business on the south end of the park and have referred many people to the Cody Hotel. I still will, but beware of Rochelle, and make sure you get a confirmation number and don’t be afraid to double confirm before...
