Overall, I really enjoyed this hotel. Nice staff. The cleaning staff in particular were great, and the room was clean as can be. The room itself was AWESOME. Huge, high ceiling, wonderful shower, great bathroom, fantastically large and comfy bed. Loved it loved it.
Now, the not as good stuff. The rooms themselves have holes in them due to the construction. Showing it's age? They are pseudo log cabin-like, and that type of construction does require maintenance. With the lights off, you can see light holes. That's fine and will not hurt you (although their heating/cooling bill must be murder with the holes and high ceilings), however, it lets bugs in. We had an earwig in the bathroom. There was a spider right by the bed. It's not terrible by any means, and it's not as if the room was filled with bugs or anything, but there were bugs. (Again, though, room was totally clean.)
The position of our room was kind of crappy. To one side, we had the busy main road of the town. On the other side, we had the hotel parking lot and office. Both sides were noisy. Neither were private. Even with the windows closed, blinds drawn, it was noisy. Not ideal.
Cody is also named after Bill Cody (Buffalo Bill), a man who killed thousands of buffalo and is somehow famous for it. The town itself is cowboy-driven (rodeos). It is a nightmare if you don't like rodeos and don't eat beef. Sorry, but we are staying here because it was the cheapest we could find. We aren't actually interested in all that, but you will kind of have it forced on you. Fair warning.
Free breakfast was okay.
Overall, it seemed a little expensive for what we got, but with some upkeep, and if the room wasn't so non-private and noisy, it could have been...
Read moreFirst of all, upon entering the assigned room, we discovered the air conditioner was not working. I went back to registration and the gentleman's attempt at humor fell very flat after I related the problem with the lack of A/C. About one minute prior to him coming to our room, it came on and began blowing. That did not last very long because once we returned from the rodeo, it had once again stopped working. As I write this, my family and I are using a very recently procured fan to endure the warm room. A positive note, Wal-Mart is very close by. I am very disappointed that we are paying in excess of $200.00 (including taxes) and the room is not cool enough to sleep comfortably. We inquired of another family and their room was very cold. We just have a bad unit, I assume, and when I reported the deficiency, I am told that it is not his problem. I would recommend staying somewhere else or at least ask for another room (not 144). When my husband asked if it was possible to be moved to another room, the registrant man stated "that decision was above his pay grade" and he would have to ask. I guess he did not ask since we are still in the warm room. I personally think it is too pricey for what we are getting. I have stayed in much nicer for less. Seriously, we have a sign in our room that instructs us to ask management if we desired an ice bucket or a coffee maker. We were also not given any information about breakfast or even the time of checkout. This was definitely not the best place to book for our one...
Read moreOh my God. This place is excellent. I was sucked in by the absolutely fabulous reviews (and a friend who told me her family always stayed there when they were in Cody), and the pictures of what looked like a nice family place. When I called to ask about the suites, the woman on the phone was so polite, and when I arrived, the same woman made me feel so comfortable, it was great. From the road, it doesn't look like much, since it's no sprawling mega-resort, but I really appreciated the little cluster of log cabins and the easy drive up parking.
It smelled good (sort of like Old Spice for some reason) and every single thing I could think of, they'd already thought of first. Extra toiletries, extra towels, extra blankets, extra cups (nicely wrapped). It wasn't just clean, it was super extra clean (I approve!!!) and there was a nice, (also clean) sitting area in front of the cabin with a little view of a grassed in courtyard. My kids really appreciated the little herd of bunnies that roamed wild and I appreciated the safety, quiet and feeling that I could leave my door open and nobody would bother me except to say "hi!" from their porch.
Breakfast (included) was a nice assortment of muffins and things, and there was actual sausage in the sausage gravy and the biscuits were warm. Checkout was super easy and very pleasant. If I ever stop in Cody again, this is my new go-to place and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone, especially if they have little kids or want a little...
