City installed that recycling unit which was a fantastic investment and a good use of taxpayer money. That type of thing is why I have faith in local government and is proof that local governments are important to improving communities. Park generally feels safe and there aren't as many suspicious types as in the O'Fallon City Park. When I moved to Collinsville being from O'Fallon, I was concerned about how family-friendly the parks would be because I had spotted 2 different strange men with cameras taking photos of people and children without permission at different points in the O'Fallon City Park and a host of other sketchy things which lead to feeling unsafe at parks. Haven't seen any obvious lurkers at this park, but keep your eyes open just in case. There have been aggressive, cursing teens especially in the summertime, but that is to be expected of public parks. Ducks are pleasant (actual ducks not just Canada geese),lots of parking, and good, safe playgrounds for your kids. They even have baby swings! Another annoying thing is teens hogging the swings which are designed for the weights of younger youth and not letting actual kids take turns. Seen this a few times during...

Amazing park in the cozy neighborhood heart of Collinsville. It's has everything from basketball courts, baseball diamond, playground for the kids, lakes for fishing, ducks and wildlife for the kids to see, and much more. I had a family reunion in the park and the city of Collinsville was very accommodating with the times, location, assistance, and many other requests I had. Safety and security is a large thing I have when it comes to a public location, this park is VERY well patrolled by Collinsville police department. You can rest assured the police are a moments notice away. They have fishing, festivals(Italian), and scheduled events that pass through the park often, nothing but fun and exciting things are happening around woodland park and your family will...

I hadn't been to Woodland Park in several years but stopped by recently since I picked up Pokemon Go again. In the past the lakes were in bad shape and were pretty full of trash. The park itself looks better tended than it did in the past and the new play areas and pavilions look really nice.

Unfortunately the state of the ponds are still quite poor, they're almost entirely covered in algae/green slime. I was surprised the ducks even hang around. There were several cups floating in this area of the pond the day I took this pic. I'm hoping it isn't a consistent problem as it was in the past given the upkeep of the rest of the park.

I'm not sure how dog friendly Woodland is but if you bring your dogs I'd keep them OUT of...

This park would be better if people would quit littering. Not the park's fault, they provide trash cans. The play equipment is fun, and there are multiple playground areas to choose from. We like the ones that have the rubber floor best but there is one with sand, and one with wood chips too. The ducks are fun to watch and the bridges are in good condition. There is a little open-air theatre which is a nice little place to have an impromptu toddler concert. Some graffiti but nothing sinister. We actually like to read what people have written. 😄 There is a fun disc golf course that loads of people seem to like. I haven't done it so can't totally vouch for the fun factor of that.
