Very much enjoyed the stalls that were available and the personalized ghost tour of the underground jail that is over 150+ years old guided by the head of the local preservation society. Extremely nice people, fun to have fresh produce, and the waffle pockets were fun, yummy and such a clever ideas. Columbia PA is bursting with little known history, tons of wonderful stories and homes, and a great place to explore with all of its historical buildings, tons of antique stores, and breweries to enjoy. We stayed in Columbia's first-approved Airbnb, Freedom Home, which is an experience unto itself. Talk about enjoying a piece of history! Highly recommend this beautiful town off the Susquehanna River not too far from Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg. This town would have been our nation's capital if the Susquehanna River had been accessible 365 days a year (froze in winter halting river travel and trade). Just imagine.. instead of District of Columbia where it is today, it could have been "__ of Columbia" in PA. Lovely place, lovely town, lovely people. Absolute must for those who enjoy exploring history and...
Read moreLet me start off with saying that a lot of "old timers" who are used to the way market houses "used to be" like to complain about how they are now. I for one think some of the change is necessary to stay relevant with the times and what newer generations want. Now, with that said, this market house has a little bit of just about everything anyone could really want! There is a stand selling produce, there is a pretzel stand that is AMAZING, I like their pretzel dog, or ham and cheese pretzel log. There are a few stands that do baked goods and various other treats and desserts, and there's a handful of places to get lunch. I love the beef patties from PepperPot Jamaican! And I love the egg rolls, beef skewers, and fried rice from Momma Sons. Stop on in for a bite, take home some baked goods and produce, and enjoy a...
Read moreSo I visited this a couple of years ago. They have a ghost tour downstairs. It's not very long but somewhat interesting. This place use to be a jail way way back in the day. They have some very good selections of different things. Food, fruits, veggies, and crafts that people have made. Today, as we speak it's under construction. I walk my dog past there everyday. They have tore up the floor and putting all new cement in. I'm sure they had a reason and other things as to why they had to do this. I can not wait till it opens back up. It's opens seasonal so I'm sure it will be done by summer. So...
