It's been several years since I've gotten a new piercing, and this is the first time I've been to the Summit location for a piercing (I've been once for a jewelry change many years ago).
I've never had a bad experience at Evolved, and this experience was exactly what I expected it to be. I had booked two piercing appointments a week ago for myself and a friend, so from walking in the door at noon, selecting our jewelry, meeting our piercer (Christine), and heading to the back for our sessions, it was a pretty quick process.
The longest part of the process before getting to the piercings was my friend and I selecting jewelry... but that was because they had some many options to look through, and we had trouble deciding! The front of house staff member (I'm so sorry, but I didn't catch your name... looking at the staff profiles on the Evolved website, I'm PRETTY sure it was Azyah) was kind, informative, and professional. They took into account our budgets, preferences, and the look of other jewelry that we already had to coordinate for the new piercings. They made suggestions as we asked questions, and never tried to push us out of our budget. Thank you for your help and suggestions!
Christine was absolutely FANTASTIC! My friend and I went back together and I went first for two piercings (septum & nostril) and a jewelry change (other nostril, for a long healed piercing). I let Christine know ahead of time that I almost always get light-headed with blood draws and vaccines/piercings, but what I wasn't expecting was that I would start getting dizzy BEFORE the piercing even happened. That's never happened to me before, but while Christine was working on the placement for the septum piercing (she said she usually does that one with people sitting up), I started getting light-headed; as soon as I said something to her, Christine had me lay down and gave me plenty of time until I was ready to continue. She gave me a glucose tablet (checking first if I was diabetic or there was any other reason I shouldn't have that), and got me some water. If she was in a hurry or flustered at all about the time it was taking me to feel okay, it didn't show. She was incredibly kind and talked to me and my friend while my body stopped freaking out!
Because I had such a strong reaction, she decided to go ahead and do the septum piercing with me laying down (good call!) instead. We got through the septum piercing, she checked on me again to make sure I was doing okay, and once I confirmed I was, we moved on to the new nostril piercing. That was done pretty quick, and we followed up with the jewelry change for my other nostril.
There was one minor hiccup in the process, in that the initial jewelry for my septum was incorrect. After the piercing, my friend noticed before I had sat up to see, and Christine quickly sorted out the correct jewelry. I think it was just a bit of miscommunication between front of house and back, but it got resolved quickly, with no harm done. My piercings looked great once they were done, and I loved the jewelry selection!
My friend had two forward helix piercings (one in each ear), that were much less dramatic than mine (no light-headedness!), and Christine was great with her too. When my friend was unsure if the marks for the piercings were evenly placed between each ear, Christine, checked, double-checked, got my input as well to confirm, and made sure my friend was happy with the placement before moving forward. The piercings ended up looking super cute!
Christine - We both SO appreciated your time, professionalism, and kindness today. Thank you for taking care of me when I got so dizzy, and not making me feel rushed to recover!
I would 100% recommend Evolved as a whole for piercings, and Christine specifically as a...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to get a couples tattoo for our 20th wedding anniversary. We went to Evolved Body Art, located at 1980 N High St. Columbus, OH 43201, due to it being close by, and a previous positive experience in 2013 when getting daughter’s ears pierced. We showed up around 1:30PM on a Sunday, and were happily greeted by Artist Mike Kerin, who had been outside getting some fresh air. Mike inquired what we were looking to do, as their piercers were not at this location today, and Mike and his associate had appointments starting in the next 10-15 minutes.
Mike was attentive while we spoke, and provided us a reasonable timeframe later in the day where he would be able to assist us as a walk-in, and get our tattoos done.
When we provided Mike our design idea, he was amazing at trying to make sure the items I wanted and my wife wanted were both represented in the mockup of our tattoo. After seeing the first draft, we provided Mike with one change we’d like to make. Mike again made sure the design was what we wanted after making the addition to the design. Soon after our approval, we were being tattooed.
In terms of cleanliness, Evolved Body Art was immaculate. Mike, his co-workers, and ownership clearly all take pride in ensuring the shop was clean. This level of cleanliness carried over to Mike’s work area. Mike cleaned everything before our tattoos, and in between my wife getting hers, and I getting mine, all surfaces were cleaned with antibacterial wipes, all tattoo guns we’re cleaned and new, sealed tattooing needles were opened.
While we were being tattooed, we shared personal stories of success, struggle, loss, and love. If I knew we hadn’t just met Mike, I would have thought we’d known each other for years. He was observant of what these new tattoos meant to us, and asked about other tattoos we had. At no time did Mike make us feel dismissed, judged, or looked down upon.
After the tattoos were done, we were completely impressed with Mike’s skill, and talent, as both our pieces turned out better than we thought they would. Mike was absolutely amazing and we will be having more work done by him, and would strongly recommend him to others who are looking to have tattoo work done.
The cost for our tattoos was in the ball-park of other shops we had gotten quotes from in the surrounding area while researching. I would even say Mike’s quoted price was slightly lower than other quotes. We’d been trying to plan to get these tattoos done since mid 2024. Many of the other artists we spoke with had 2-6 month waiting lists to be able to get on their calendar. Evolved Body Art however, was the ONLY shop we went in that still had scheduled time/openings for walk-ins.
This was my first EVER experience with Evolved Body Art. I can say it has been a long while since I have been this impressed with a business, their staff, and the level of service delivered. If you are considering a tattoo or body art, please consider Evolved Body Art.
Thanks Mike for an amazing experience and helping Amy and I celebrate 20 years of marriage with our new...
Read moreI’ve been to evolved a couple of times, for both tattoos and piercings. This most recent time was the worst experience I have ever had. A few weeks ago I went in with two designs in mind, one for behind my ear (the one on the right in the photo) and another one I hoped to get behind my ear, but it was quite big and I was willing to move it to my wrist (the tattoo on the left in the photo).
They grabbed an artist (don’t remember his name off the top of my head but I still have his card) for me to talk to me about size and placement. He came out immediately condescending and rude, telling me putting the tattoo I wanted behind my ear in that spot would look bad. I told him if he needed to shave a part of my head, to do it. It’s a SMALL tattoo. No detail, just basic shapes (again, this is the tattoo on the right hand side in the photo). It would have easily fit there and look good. He told me he needed at least two inches for the one I wanted behind my ear. I went back and forth with him a few times until I gave up and said I’ll just move it to my wrist. I wasn’t gonna sit there and argue for an hour over it.
Then he told me it was gonna be $250 and I should have walked out there and then. The attitude was already terrible, and $250 for two small tattoos is actually ridiculous. I ended up actually getting tattooed for less than an hour. I shouldn’t have stayed and shouldn’t have paid it for the experience I had.
I’ve been around tattoo artists daily for the last two years. I’ve seen stencils placed hundreds of times. I knew it would fit where I wanted it. He printed out the stencils and after telling me several times he needed -two inches- for that specific tattoo, he goes and prints out a one inch stencil as an option. I picked it. It was the size I wanted anyway. After all that back and forth about how it needed to be 2 inches at LEAST, I still ended up with the 1 inch tattoo, but in a spot I didn’t want it in to begin with.
I got bullied into moving the placement, I was talked down to and I realize now he didn’t want to do the tattoo where I wanted because it was out of pure laziness. Every other tattoo artist I have talked to has told me they could have easily done it in the spot I wanted and I would have more than enough room for it. Pure laziness. That’s all it was.
I’m disappointed, and on top of that, now it’s coming out that some of the artists and the owner are creeps. Evolved will never see my face again and will not be getting one more dime...
