The office staff doesn’t know how to do their job, they rotate staff around all the time so you get use to a face and then it’s someone new and they are gone. They couldn’t care less about you as a resident or person. You will get threatened with fines for every little thing; I was told I was going to be fined AND EVICTED if I continued placing AIR FRESHENERS around the 2nd floor where I lived where a specific neighbor smelled like rotting trash all the time. They did nothing about it so I did and some of my neighbors actually appreciated the air fresheners and placed them outside their front door as well since smell is an issue.
Also SOME of the people who live here are really judgmental & stuck up. SOME of the residents who have been here for some time are in a weird clique where everyone gossips about everyone. I feel like I’m living in a college dorm, but hey at least I graduated from high school with my last apartment complex 🙃
Some of your neighbors won’t know how to be kind with simple communication or know how to take their trash out. So you will get to spend $1700 or more for a one bedroom and smell rotting trash on a consistent basis going into your apt. despite several attempts at trying to remedy the issue with the office. A car was stolen out of someone’s garage and cars get broken into every night since you basically live in a strip mall parking lot. I can’t wait until my lease ends; I’m going to rent a house in the country this time and find some peace since I have lost all faith in apartment communities at the moment.
Oh not to mention the fact the first month I moved in me and my girlfriend were screamed at by a drunk ground's crew staff member (Jeremy) for trying to leave the pool area 10 mins early. He kept screaming we were gonna get locked in if we didn’t leave as we were trying to gather our things to leave. We were out of pool area and he follows us to the office and up the stairs to charge in our face and scream to the point he was spitting on us and threatening fines when he had no authority to do so. Do yourself a favor and find a place with better staff that has safe parking and less pretentious people. 🤷🏽♀️
TO YOUR REPLY: There are in fact no cameras in the parking lot despite the signs that say there are, that is a lie. Oh I’m sorry with the exception of the one camera pointing on the dumpster, so if any resident disposes of something in a way you don’t like you can threaten more fines. Of course you wouldn’t miss an opportunity to threaten a fine and collect more money lol. If there were cameras these criminals would be caught and it would stop happening as often.
I am not the only one who has mentioned the smell of the one girl who cooks broccoli AND THEN doesn’t take her trash out on a consistent basis so we all have to smell rotting food. Now granted, it may not bother other residents to the point of submitting a complaint as I have, but I’m not willing to live with the smell. The fact you say staff has never smelled what I do is also a lie, you all gave me plug ins at one point to help with the smell, now you’ve never smelled anything? The office manager Carrie is the most miserable passive aggressive human I have met this year. You all say that I’m passive aggressive but your reply is just that. Thank you for continuing to...
Read moreI just recently moved out of Taylor House after living there for 5 years. Overall, I would rate it as an average experience, particularly because, when things are good, they are great, but when things are bad, they are pretty bad.
I will start with the good stuff - the amenities overall are very nice. The pool is well taken care of and the gym is always clean and well-stocked. The TVs down in the lobby and the theater were also nice features, especially since we didn't have cable and this allowed us to watch certain shows or sporting events. In general, maintenance requests were typically resolved pretty quickly. Finally, the resident events hosted by Taylor House were fun and a good way to get to know the neighbors.
Now to the bad - I think the most concerning thing(s) for me were 1. lack of communication regarding major events and 2. turnover with the staff. On multiple occasions, there was water damage to our apartment (one instance was a drain backup and the other instance was a water main break which resulted in a waterfall running down the building and the apartment next door to us filling with water), and we were never informed by staff at Taylor House. In both instances, my roommate and I were away (Christmas Break, etc.), and there was water damage to apartments adjacent to ours, but in neither occurrence did we receive any communication regarding the issues from Taylor House Staff... When the drain backup happened, our apartment sat with water in it for 3 days, before we eventually came back to discover it. All the while, the apartments on either side of us had been inspected for flooding, cleaned up, and provided fans to speed up the drying process... When the water main broke, our next door neighbors' apartment flooded completely, resulting in approximately 4 inches of water being on the floor in their room. A representative from Taylor House never reached out to us to inform us of the water issue, nor did they check in to see if we had experienced any issues/flooding, being that we were right next door to an apartment that was destroyed. These are just two instances, but both experiences left us feeling like the staff wasn't concerned about us as tenants.
Next, it seems Preferred Living moves their employees around a lot. For what it's worth, the staff members are typically very friendly and helpful, but they move around a lot, which, in my experience, leads to a lot of answers that vary OR a lack of resolution if you have issues because things get lost in the shuffle of staff members. Over the course of our 5-year stay, we received a lot of varying answers depending on who we asked, which was ultimately pretty frustrating.
Overall, we lived in the place for 5 years, so it definitely wasn't all bad. Truly, I wanted to move out sooner after the water issues, but a lot of apartments in the same price range don't really offer the same amenities, which led to us re-signing. The amenities at Taylor House truly are great. If everything is working as it should, your experience will be enjoyable overall. I would just be aware that if something breaks / something unexpected happens, at least from my experience, the property may not keep you informed. Definitely think there is room for improvement in overall communication between property...
Read moreMy husband and I have lived at Taylor House for 2 1/2 years, and we absolutely love it - no complaints! The staff is outstanding, period. Office/Leasing responds to questions quickly and is always friendly, caring and professional; Maintenance has fixed problems in our apartment the SAME DAY they were reported and then checked back to be sure they were done correctly; Maintenance also takes time every day to fix the smallest details in the common areas - for instance, someone marks a wall with their furniture when moving in? Maintenance will have that mark painted over quickly. Spill on the hallway carpet? That will be shampooed right away; Housekeeping is here every day cleaning hallways, stairs, windows, fitness areas, etc. - this is the cleanest apartment building you will find in Columbus!; Groundskeepers mulch, weed, plant, and keep the outside areas attractive; and Resident Managers are on call 24/7 to resolve issues outside of normal Office Hours. We toured over 15 apartments complexes before choosing Taylor House, and I am confident in saying that NONE were anywhere as well-kept and as well-run as Taylor. You need to come and see it to believe it! Our apartment is huge, has beautiful new appliances, and countertops and a washer & dryer. I love the indoor access and the fob key system - I feel safe here. And, contrary to other reviews, and I hardly ever hear my neighbors. There are a mix of ages of people that live here, and I've found them to be either friendly types or quiet "keep to themselves" types. Many are students and are busy with classes and work. I love the fitness center, and the fact that it overlooks the pool is an added bonus - most complexes bury it in some basement or boring room with no view! I really enjoy using the pool during the week when it is actually very relaxing and quiet. If you like more of a social scene, then the pool on the weekend is a busy, fun place to be! We have a small dog, and it's great to be able to take him out in one of the two courtyards, or the dog park or walk across the street to the Anheusher Busch Sports Park. Finally, the location of Taylor House cannot be beat if you like to do things downtown. Right out our door, hop on 315 and it's 10 minutes or less to campus, 15 minutes or less to Short North/Downtown. If you use Uber, you can get there for $6-$15 depending on time/day. Perfect for going out at night. Taylor is also super close to Tuttle Mall, Dublin, Upper Arlington, & Clintonville - so much to explore & enjoy! When we moved to Columbus, we thought Apt living would be a one-year thing at tops for us, but Taylor House is so nice, we...
