MixHaus Gallery — Attraction in Comfort

MixHaus Gallery is one of my favorite spots in Comfort—every visit feels like stepping into a living, breathing canvas filled with stories. Right now, The Return: A West Texas Retrospective by Douglas Galloway is on display, and it absolutely captures that mix of rugged landscapes and deep-rooted memories. The encaustic, mixed-media pieces are both powerful and intimate.

The gallery itself—an intentional space for art and community—makes each visit feel meaningful. I love seeing how they bring in Texas artists and celebrate diverse creative approaches. This place is the REAL deal. Finally a fine art gallery in Comfort, and they offer many wonderful classes. I have taken two encaustic painting workshops from Jeannette MacDougall and she is so helpful and so full of the joy of teaching, it is really fun.
