We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Giles in Comfort and hope to return sometime.
Directions for self check-in were easy and we were happy with our room. Clean with a nice set of chairs, a table, a fridge and a well appointed bathroom. Loved the big and high pressure shower. Also appreciated and took advantage of the chairs out on the balcony.
In general, staff was available, helpful and friendly. Ask about nearby winery visits.
Breakfast each morning between 9 and 10 am was plentiful. Hearty even. Had scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, as well as a kind of coffee cake and fruit and yogurts to choose from on our first morning. The second morning we had a couple of frittatas and fresh biscuits. Very good. There was also fruit and yogurt again and I think oatmeal too. Coffee at breakfast was very good!
Since we were there over a Friday night, we got to enjoy the happy hour jam session of musicians out at the gazebo. This included some wines from nearby Ursa plus cheese & crackers and olives. All good!
Excellent location in Comfort and easy to walk to nearby restaurants and wine tasting.

Read moreI stayed at the Hotel Giles (a gorgeous BnB) in historic downtown Comfort while attending a wedding at that beautiful Spinelli's Venue. I stayed in Suite #7 which was a large King-sz bedroom | gracing the gazebo. Central AC/heating, a college size refrigerator, cable TV and we were able to connect to Wi-Fi very easily. The large shower bathroom stocks fragrant bath gels and lotion, and plush, non-white towels-Yes! I booked directly with the hotel and Jonathan and Meredith were very accommodating -even informing you of discounts you may qualify for. I really like that days prior to your arrival, they will text and/or email your room suite and key code. You just confirm and go straight to your room upon arrival. Each morning, Meredith prepares an amazing homecooked breakfast. I would definitely stay there again! Comfort is a very small town, 20-30 minutes from Boerne and Fredericksburg. It has just a few antique and clothing shops, and very few restaurants. There are no real hotels, just a few cottage BnBs. The Hotel Giles was the best. But if you are looking for a wedding venue, Spinelli's...
Read moreI stayed in Room 2 for a few nights and it was a phenomenal experience. The room has ample lamps to go alongside the old style light on the ceiling. The bed and sheets and pillows are soft.
The bathroom was well-stocked, the shower was piping hot, and the small-batch soap they get from Fredericksburg is perfect.
There’s a parlor right across from room 2 which has comfy chairs, a Keurig machine and water bottles, selections from the Public Library a block away (please check that out too!) as well as a pair of books about the architect that designed the hotel, Alfred Giles. Oh, and an acoustic guitar for people to pluck away at.
Breakfast in the Carriage-House out back was delicious, a different selection of things each day and they have gluten-free options for toast & bread if need be.
I was here in Comfort for a friend’s wedding, but I believe I may have to come by and stay a night or two at the Giles around this same...
