As a part- time resident in the hill country, there are local restaurants one needs to eat at to get the local flavor. Brene’s Kitchen is one of those in Comfort. It’s a family owned restaurant and eating there is delightful because this family tries so hard to please their customers. A group of us went to eat Sunday Brunch on a rainy Sunday morning. We were greeted like royalty and soon as we got to our table, we were asked for our drinks and if we wanted to order from the menu or their get the buffet. We decided to try their buffet. Now, this is not a fancy place in SA or Houston. For Comfort,TX, their food is excellent.
Their fresh fruit choices are fresh from the garden seems like. They had scrambled eggs, fried eggs, biscuits and gravy, hot oatmeal, bacon and sausages, ham, pancakes and waffles with warm maple syrup and goodness me, their pastry choices are amazing! I forgot to mention their assortment of cold cereal. The choices were varied and phenomenal!
We pigged out and got out of there with full stomachs promising ourselves never to eat that much for breakfast ever again! Nevertheless, I’m so glad to have Brene’s Kitchen in Comfort.
Finally, restaurants as a business has been rough lately. We do need to support our local businesses, especially a restaurant like Brene’s. The whole family works there, husband and wife, their daughters work as servers and they work so hard to make this business succeed. As a customer, I’d like nothing more than this place to make it as a go to place in Comfort, TX. If you’re visiting or live around the area, go eat Brene’s Kitchen. You will be glad you did! The food...
Read moreA diner. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The CFS was hand-breaded and fried and needed to be seasoned. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes and not powdered potatoes. The cream gravy was homemade but needed more seasoning. The green beans were freshly cooked and were good. The service was kind of slow but ok. We got our bill and a service charge was added along with a credit card charge. We asked what the charge was for and employees did not know. They supposedly took the charges off and we paid with cash. We didn't get a new receipt so I really don't know if they took the charges off. The place is pretty new and I will go back. Hopefully the kinks will be worked out. It pleases me that they cook the food fresh and it is not frozen breaded patties and powder gravy. At the moment they are BYOB. I don't know if they will be getting their alcohol license or not. We had a person in our party that is handicapped and in a scooter. He wasn't able to get his scooter in the door of the restroom in the back area we were dining in. I don't know if the place has another restroom that...
Read moreMy husband and I found this little gem in Comfort Tx., I ordered the cheeseburger, my husband the BLT, OMG I can't say enough good things about this little gem, the cheeseburger was the best I have had in many years, I'm a burger kind of girl, it was fresh, the right amount of their special seasoning. My husband said his BLT was excellent, the owners are kind, fun, they make you feel like they have known you forever. This is now our favorite home cooking restaurant, we're already planning for our next visit next week.
Thank you Brian & Rene for making us feel like family and for your wonderful food, we'll...
