If I could give this place no stars I would but unfortunately that’s not an option. I was scheduled for a consultation with PA Bri Silvestri, she comes in and introduces herself and starts my exam. My soft cast was removed and she grabbed my hand looked it over top and bottom and suggest a splint for 4 weeks to see if my finger will heal properly. No explanation of what she’s already seen if she’s looked at my xray or anything. No explanation of why she thinks I’d benefit from a splint versus surgery. (Very rushed exam if you ask me) splint is placed a week goes by and the swelling and pain in my hand just increases. I called the office multiple times to see if I can’t get help with my cast. No call back except to verify pain scale and pharmacy to send narcotics I didn’t ask for, so I ended up walking into the clinic and having the splint removed and placed into a soft cast due to swelling and I was given an emergency appointment next day with the same PA. I show up to my appointment and I’m taken back to xray where the nurses there have no idea why I’m there and if they’re to take my soft cast off or not for the X-rays. I stood around the x ray room while the girls talked about the “very annoying trainer” and how they despise these classes but are required to take them. Finally I’m taken back to have my soft cast removed and back to xray for photos. I get back in with Bri and she’s telling me everything is healing properly even tho my pinky is quite literally scissoring under my ring finger. I expressed I’m a single mom in a significant amount of pain I’d like to schedule surgery. I was offered the 15th of July putting my injury at one month total in a soft cast. I expressed that wasn’t going to work as I’ll have long term damage to my hand and surgery was scheduled for the 24th of June. Today 6/19 I get a call at 1:18pm informing me of my arrival time for surgery and my pre op instructions as well as my copay I was told was $0, at 2:02pm I get a link to their surgery center portal requesting a $3,000 fee due before surgery. 72 hour notice for $3,000 surgery when an hour ago I was told it was $0. Called and spoke to the banner surgery manager and was offered to pay in full or apply for their credit card. They truly don’t care for their patients as long as they get paid. I now am injured and healing a broken finger for a month probably longer now that I have to find ANOTHER provider. I’ll be filing a complaint to the Arizona medical board as well. This is absolutely unacceptable for a “medical” facility. To the “owner” who will comment with a link for “further assistance” can shove it because it never gets...
Read moreThis isn't really a concussion center, although they do provide concussion-related services. This is because they have only one post-concussion specialist for both locations, and he doesn't even travel to Scottsdale. So at least for the Scottsdale location, they need to either take down the signage for "Concussion Center" or hire about 5-6 more Post Concussion Specialists so that they have between 2-4 Neurology post concussion specialists at each location.
This is a condition that is extremely time-sensitive for treatment, as if not resolved within a year, post concussion syndrome may turn into autoimmune encephalitis, which can be deadly. And according to studies from the Mayo Clinic, it's a condition that must be treated within 6 months for the best outcome for the post concussion syndrome to resolve itself. Ideally, it should be treated within the first 30-90 days. But for the patient who is recently concussed, they won't be referred to their post concussion specialist until you have shown consistent symptoms of concussion for at least 90 days, and then they have at least a 4-5 month wait to meet with their only post concussion specialist. So, it's very realistic that even if the typical patient receives the proper referral after waiting over 3 months, they might not get to meet with a post concussion specialist until after a year with untreated post concussion syndrome, so the chance of making a full recovery is heavily diminished. What makes it even worse is that it seems their only post concussion specialist is insensitive about those who unfortunately weren't referred to him sooner, and their treatment much delayed, in that he tells them there's nothing he can do for them. This is incorrect, as he knows that those patients could possibly have autoimmune encephalopathy, and he knows there's at least one specialist in network with Banner, who is trained to treat autoimmune encephalopathy/encephalitis. He knows that he can also referred those patients to Barrow's BRAIN...
Read moreDr. Hustedt scheduled me for surgery 10 weeks out because he is only at the University Hospital one day a month. I needed surgery there because of needing cadaver parts. Five weeks later Dr. Hustedt’s office cancelled my surgery after I planned my entire summer around the surgery. They asked if I was available the following month for surgery. I booked a trip with my mom to California to visit my brother for her 80th birthday so no I’m not available. It is completely unacceptable for the doctor to cancel a surgery 5 weeks after scheduling, especially when they are only in that operating room one day a month! I have called numerous times asking for a manager to call me back. That still hasn’t happened weeks later. It is impossible to call the office, you only get a call center who tells you that someone will call you. They lie. Finally when Dr. Hustedt returned from vacation he called me. No apology. All he said was, did I want to do the surgery at a later date or did I want to see another doctor. I couldn’t be more disappointed, in fact appalled with how this business is run. To top it off today I got a text about my surgery scheduled for two weeks stating it would be canceled if I didn’t fill out the form. Talk about a slap in the face. I’ve had to seek out another doctor and go through the whole process again. I would like my two copays back for the two times I visited this joke...
