Let me begin by saying I'm pretty new to Vegas, and that my first time at a Vegas swap meet will be tomorrow morning. Reason I'm writing my review in advance is if I do not enjoy the experience, I wish to keep my opinion to myself as I see that the proprietor actually seems to show an interest in the visitors, and I wish not to sway anyone's interest as this could be a work in progress. Being a San Diego native I can tell you this... If you ever find yourself in SD and are thinking of hitting kobey's swap meet, don't bother. I never even realized how much it sucks until once day, I was up in LB visiting a friend and she suggested we spend the morning at the desk meet. All I was thinking was, 'ugh, I guess it's going to be a pretty dull morning.' I was surprisingly astonished! Not only at the fact that there was no admission price, but the food! All kinds of delicious choices AND, to top it off, plenty of the used, flea market fare, the "yard-sale' vendors, as I think of them! And that is really what a "flea market" is all about anyway. That's where the REAL deals are! It's was a great time. Unlike Dan Diego Kobey's. At Kobey's, you've gotta busy out two bucks (haven't been there in years so I'm sure it muddy be five bucks these days, at least) AND for food, you'd better bring your own because it's always the same tired, crappy ones every weekend, without fail. On a good day the over-priced choice might be between a tasteless burger with semi-warm fries or a wrinkled, been-in-the-rotisserie a-little-too-long, hotdogs. And a coke, it whatever kinda dogs you want (but you can't really call it soda because, well... it kinda has to have CARBONATION to be soda!). And last, but not least, the vendors. Hundreds of vendors drinking the same, worthless junk the next vendor's got. Here's to overkill of whatever is trendy this week! Ugh. And with each successive weekend there would be less and less of the "yard-sale" vendor types. I will say ONE thing positive about San Diego s swap meet. There was always less and less of a crowd! Well there it is, I'm so disappointed just thinking about Kobey's that I don't even feel like going to this one this morning anymore. Oh, did I mention, you have to pay for parking there...
Read moreMy friend and I set up in a space here for the day, it only cost $25 plus a canopy and tables, and found out we didn't have a clue about swap meet selling lol. Fortunately the other vendors and people who work there were awesome - friendly, helpful, and "neighborly". This is what we learned : Cost: $50 for the whole weekend or $25 for the day, no reservations required, Time: GET THERE EARLY 5 or 6 am Bring: Canopy, tables (at least 4), tie downs, rocks or something weighted to hold tablecloths down, hangars, hooks, etc to hang whatever you can around the canopy to attract buyers, change (a $20 broken should do), drinks and snacks, lots of smiles and lots of patience. Expect: Everyone wanting yard sale prices Also Expect : to spend the whole day there - no one leaves until it's closing time 3:00 pm Don't expect : to sell a lot if you don't bring a lot. We thought we brought too much stuff to sell, turns out the opposite was...
Read moreItâs fun to look at things and shop. Itâs a hunt but in the summer make sure to have sunglasses and frozen water or insulated water container with ice and water in it. There are no vendors for food or water there from what I saw so BYW=bring your own water unless you want to pass out from the heat and the bright sun while your shopping it gets hot quick! Be prepared so you can have fun shopping
The prices vary depending on what your looking for. Bring cash and change for it some vendors donât take credit cards. Keep snacks in the car
Probably not the best place to bring small children some places have lots of little old things and in the summer metal stuff gets hot and they wonât be enjoying the...
