Jerk Dat Flamingo — Restaurant in Whitney

I've been to this place twice now. The first time I made an online order of oxtail's & jerk chicken with cabbage, a side of Mac n cheese & a side of potato salad. I went inside, got my food, got in my car & checked it. I was missing both sides. Not only did I have to go back inside, but I had to tell the lady I didn't have my sides & asked for them. She THEN decides to tell me that they don't have mac n cheese OR potato salad. 🤔🤔 so WHY wouldn't you tell me that when I came in here?? And WHY didn't you offer what you DID HAVE?? And WHY didn't you tell me you were out of items?? I HAD TO ASK FOR WHAT THEY HAD. The lady said they didn't have any options. I said...."Ma'am I paid for the sides that you don't have so if you not gon OFFER ME WHAT YOU DO HAVE then I need my $ back. She said "Yeah ok, I think I'll refund you on the app." YOU THINK?! I just said ok & left. Never got refunded so that's over $10 I lost. Talk about PISSED, but I ain't say nothing. I just ordered again, yesterday, but I went inside cause I'll never order from them through online again. Once again they didn't have mac n cheese or potato salad. Not that they were out, they never made any. If your gonna be out of items on your menu every single day then you need to take them off your menu. I ordered curry goat & greens with a side of cabbage. First time I had the greens. The cabbage was a completely different recipe from the first time I had it. What I ordered was good, but my issue was the cabbage. If I'm going to order something, it should be the same every time I order it. It was good though. I'm never gonna order it again though since I never know what I'm gonna get. The lady also doesn't seem happy to serve folks. I've only ever seen her, never anybody else. Don't know if anybody else works in there. What I do know is her customer service ISN'T GREAT & actually SUCKS. She wasn't rude, but has no interest in people it seems, if that makes sense. Which only makes me question the food. There's one or two things I still wanna try, but after that they'll never get my $ again. Ahhh I wish this place would’ve been my go to for Jamaican food out here in Vegas .. I originally was going to place an order through Uber eats for a combo plate which would have consisted of oxtails and jerk chicken which came out to $35 .. but as I was about to place my order it randomly switched saying that the restaurant was no longer taking web orders so I ended up going to their new location off of dessert inn road … I can say that the place has a very nice ambience but other than that everything else is meeeh .. ok customer service but I wasn’t really expecting anything spectacular just based off of experience dealing with other Jamaican spots in cali but anyways .. I ordered an oxtail meal and a side of jerk chicken … as I’m preparing to pay the lady lets me know it’s cash only or Zelle.. luckily my wife was in the car and had cash on her because I only came with a card and $20 in cash .. I was expecting to use my card ..but like I said the food was ok and the price for what I received wasn’t worth it in my opinion $48 was my total and $16 for a cut up chicken thigh is wild .. and these are not oxtails smh they’re NECK BONES!!!! If I wanted neck bones I would’ve went somewhere that served neck bones .. but I specifically wanted oxtails smh ..A lot of bones were on the plate with no meat as well ..the little amount of meat that was on the neck bones weren’t even enough to split between my two small dogs to eat … it is what it is but I wish nothing but the best for this black...

If I could give negative numbers I would. As a black woman I was completely appalled at the way I was treated by a Black establishment. Walked in the front door saw no one called out hello received no answer. It wasn’t until another non Black couple walked in when someone actually came out. She took one look at me and the smile immediately left her face and she said what do want? After I asked what the special was today as this place differs every visit she snapped very sarcastically “jerk chicken”. Oookkkaayyy. I thought all is not completely lost and started to order when she interrupted me and said they only take cash and that I should go next door to use the ATM. Well at that point I was over being ignored and mistreated before even saying anything I simply said OK and began to leave. Well by then she saw her sale going out the door and tried to put a smile back in her voice as it was nowhere on her face. But the damage was done. I will not be back. Ever. I believe in supporting our neighborhood black owned businesses but when the support and basic customer service is not retuned I will take my money and business elsewhere. And we wonder why we as a “community “ can’t seem to make anything...
