The experience that I had at Gavigans was very disappointing. My partner and I purchased a couch, chair and ottoman at the end of July. We were told it would be completed in 8-10 weeks. We reached out in September for an update and were told that it would take 10-12 weeks now and was within the time frame. There wasn’t an exact update on the progress of the product. A voicemail was left towards the end of September stating that the couch was within the timeframe and would be completed and shipped out by week 12. The beginning of October which would be week 11, we reached out for an update. We were told that the fabric was on back order and there was no exact time that it would be back in stock or completed. They had known about the issue prior to us calling, but we were never updated. We were told to come in to reselect something in stock, get a refund or wait. We were contacted by Joel that we could receive the display option of our couch with $250 off or a refund. We came in to look at the display before deciding and wanted more money off due to basically receiving a used couch. The display chair had bird poop all down the back and side, which Joel was scratching off with his finger and stating he could clean it before we left. When more poop was found, he said there was nothing there until I had to point out every piece. We asked for more off because of the damage, he stated they could only give $100 more off. We asked for an earlier delivery instead of the next week, he said the trucks were full and wouldn’t be able to deliver that week. We ended up getting out money back. The math for the price we were charged didn’t add up. It appeared that we were overcharged but were told that is how they calculate things. Tax should never be added to a delivery fee.
Overall the experience was terrible. There wasn’t any communication about the couch when the news of the fabric not being in was discovered. There was no care for our frustration of paying over $2000 and not receiving the couch we paid for. There were times when Joel was laughing about the situation which was far from funny. It was disturbing that they would even consider selling furniture with animal poop all over it without cleaning it or at all. After this experience, I will never purchase another item from this store or even recommend...
Read moreThe salesman himself "Will" was so full of crap, but I had been looking at sofas for a while and knew what I wanted. The biggest kicker with his BS was.. I had to leave before he could talk to his manager about an additional discount on the sofa I was buying. He was feeding me all this S*&t about how he ran the store and they did what he told them, O and if I wasn't happy enough with the price he would "dip into his commission to get me a better deal." A few hours later he calls me and tells me he got me a great discount on both the sofas I was looking at but I had to come in that day while the manager was still there. Out of the 60 I looked at I was down to these 2 so why not get an extra discount and the sale ended in 24 hours anyways. When I get there he tells me he could do anything on the one but could take an extra 5% off the other if I paid cash or check. REALLY you could tell me that on the phone. So here I am no cash no checks telling him I am a little disappointed about the discount and he goes right into his salesman BS again. When I told him I was looking for another$100 off he said that was the best they could do, when I brought up his comments about making sure I got the price I wanted even if he had to "dip into his commission to get me a better deal" there was no comment and he switched the subject. In the end the manager let me use a debt card for the deposit to get the extra 5% off the one I wanted. The best part, to top all of this off is he had told me he had been there for years, but the manager had to walk him through how to fill out the paperwork. I am happy with the deal I got and the sofa I picked, I just wish you didn't have to deal with the lies, deception and other BS for the...
Read moreWe went to find a recliner sofa. We were met by someone who said he was the son (or grandson?) of the owner. He basically said we could do anything, choose anything and it could be customized.
But then when we tried to ask for certain things he said it wasn’t possible. Or it wasn’t available in that design or w those specifications. So we went from our first choice to our second to our third. We were visibly disappointed and he said “but it’s your third choice, that’s not bad.” But of course when you promise one thing and cannot deliver….and we wanted the middle seat to also recline - and the third choice didn’t do that he said “well, the one you have now doesn’t recline either.” As if we are used to it so it’s no change. Except that was one of our major criteria. He was basically talking us out of our major criteria.
As we were leaving he kept lowering the price. He said he won’t be here if we change our mind (which made us wonder if he has a stable position w the company) and also we don’t want to buy anything from someone who won’t be there the next day.
As we were leaving he said in a very sad tone “I’m sorry I disappointed you.” We felt awful and tried to make him feel better. I said “it wasn’t YOU. It’s just the selection.” Anyway. It was a very unusual encounter we had with the sales agent. We found what we needed elsewhere and didn’t have to make concessions and didn’t feel like we were hurting anyone’s feelings at other places we did not go with. Def an interesting experience. I wish...
