Whenever we are in town we stop here for a workout. The locals are somewhat tolerant of our sporadic drop-ins. My father has a cabin in incline. We usually buy a family pass for the week which is super reasonable. I love the basketball court and shooting around before I lift weights. The warm indoor pool for laps and fooling around with the kids is a great way to get out of a snowbound cabin and get some fun family exercise. I’m always perplexed at well funded fitness facilities of this size that have a tiny weight area and don’t have barbells. The facility is huge but they cram the hamster wheels and weights into a closet sized area. It’s a 1970’s health club model. The cardio/weight room is the most utilized area but it gets the least space. The entrance lobby is bigger than the gym. It would be nice to expand this space to accommodate the demand.

The pool at this facility is excellent and a highlight of the experience. However, the gym leaves much to be desired. It is overly small and packed with equipment, making the space feel cramped and uncomfortable. The temperature in the gym is too warm, which makes workouts unpleasant esp. cardio. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated area for stretching or functional exercises, requiring you to take weights to an upstairs room that is not always available. The overall layout feels claustrophobic, and despite the local discount, the gym simply doesn’t justify the cost.

We are at a softball tournament at Incline Middle School and I am overly impressed with the crew that is prepping the field! Wow! They are taking intense care in what they do. This helps keep the players safe….thank you so much! It does not go unnoticed.

I don't usually write reviews but the reality is I had such a positive experience with my swimming journey with Fiona that  I had to share in case it benefits others too. I  am 30 and I never learned how to swim and so I always had a fear of the deep end. I always looked at good swimmers and wanted to be one of them. But I had the fear of failing or practicing in front of other great swimmers. So one day I decided to book my first few session with Fiona and join the Rec Center. I really had no background in swimming so I had to start with breathing, kicking, hands, timing, ... ! So far I've only had about 5 hours with Fiona ( 30 min per session) and I can see the improvements every single day. In the beginning, I was only practicing in the shallow end of the pool because again I was afraid of the deep end so much. But it's been a couple of days that I started swimming laps and getting more and more comfortable/ relax to swim in the deep end. Fiona really watched how I do things and would explain to me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it and that has been so critical for my learning. She also taught me the techniques to feel more relax swimming laps even though I still don't know how to tread water. When I first started, I did not think I was gonna learn so much and especially go to the deep end so quickly and I am so thankful to Fiona. I am learning something new every time. I've watched Fiona teaching to kids and adults with different levels of experience and she is super nice, patient and very experienced. It's also important to practice on your own and fix your habits. outside of my sessions with Fiona, I spend about 3 hours a week practicing.

I am so glad I chose Fiona and highly recommend her. Also, the team who works at the pool are so kind and helpful (Joh is the best) so it's been the...

Update Aug 2025: This place needs a safety audit. There are so many accidents waiting to happen that I’m surprised we haven’t seen more ambulance visits. Speaking with the staff and showing by example has not worked. IMO if you aren’t alreadyhighly competent around this equipment and know who to watch out for, find another gym. Someone’s going to get hurt.

Prior review for reference: I hesitate to write a review for the IV Rec Center because I don't want it to get crowded, but here we are.

This is a community funded (ie taxpayer) recreation center with a very nice pool, modern exercise equipment, adult and kids classes and programs, and a variety of other activities. While 'locals' (meaning those who pay a significant yearly tax) get a small discount, this recreation center is an amazing deal for anyone staying in town temporarily.

WRT staffing, there have been problems in years past with unfriendly staff, but the current staff seems enormously friendly and eager to help. My compliments to the staff!

Lastly, COVID restrictions have ended for vaccinated guests. The staff is still wearing masks and plastic shields are up in the reception, but otherwise the experience...
