J & J Produce — Attraction in Wilmington

I gave this place a shot after leaving work and just wanting to support a small business. I went in and grabbed alot (per photo). The only thing that was ok was the yellow watermelon and I've had better. My big ol watermelon was not sweet and I had a sour stomach after it. The cantaloupe taste weird and cutting into it under the skin was red. Mangosteen was ok. The mango was ok.. the potatoes I tossed because of the fail with the sour watermelon.. no I was discovering the mishaps over 3 days after purchasing.. the only thing I have left if the coconut and I'm afraid to even try it. Lots of great stuff here! The sales are great on the older items. We always go here for carrots, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. I do not think the spinach and kale is very cheap compared to farmer's markets. Cheaper than most grocery stores but we will stick to farmer's markets for these 2 items. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. I do reccomend this place. I hear the crab cakes are amazing from friends but I haven't had a chance to try...

I like the prices, the staff is always friendly and smiling. They have a good selection and are pretty reliable about having everything in stock. I do feel like it is hit or miss as to weather or not the produce is at it's peak or passed its prime. So as with any produce supplier I am always ready to buy what looks good and ready.
