K1 Speed - Indoor Go Karts, Corporate Event Venue, Team Building Activities — Attraction in Manassas

Short version, my husband went yesterday, and on his first race he was badly injured. Another drivers car crashed into him and her car ended up completely on top of his right half body, barely missing his head. She was completely on top of him, all the workers had to come rushing to get the car off of him.

Full explanation: This was our first time going, and an early birthday present to him. The race started off fine, but there was a girl, looked like a teenager, that was constantly slamming into everyone, MULTIPLE TIMES while racing. Looking back, this was completely negligent on the staffs part, they should’ve stoped the race and removed her but they didn’t. Every time there was a corner that you had to turn on, she would either slam the person from the back, or try to squeeze past them, it was like she took the racing too seriously and was putting others at risk.

She ended up on top of my husband because when it came time to turn the corner, she tried to squeeze past him and guardrail. They collided and she ended up on top of him. It was so fast, and very scary for me as a wife. I could immediately see my husband grabbing his arm that was being crushed and could see the pain on his face. I was with two young kids who were also looking.

When they finally pulled the car off of my husband they just escorted him to the gate and removed his helmet, and told him to talk to the front desk girl. I could see in their faces they were concerned/shaken up for him, but didn’t seem trained on what to do if something like this happened. They DID kick the girl off and told her she was done racing.

When we went to the front desk girl, she just looked a little nonchalant, she didn’t ask anything about any possible injuries, just kind of nervously giggled and said I’m guessing you don’t want to continue driving? She did say sorry that happened, but reminded him he could come back for his two other races anytime. We will NEVER be going back.

Anyone with kids I would NEVER let them do this. This seemed to be a fluke thing, but I can’t imagine what would’ve happened to my husband if the car had went completely on top of his whole body instead of his right half. Between the impact and the heaviness of the car he would probably have died from a broken neck. We will NEVER be going back!

This is an in-door place. The tracks are very narrow and too many people are racing together, there was at least 7 with my husband. A complete recipe for disaster. They said this was adult racing, but it obviously wasn’t as this girl was clearly an inexperienced driver and looked very young.

The girl that slammed into my husband should’ve been kicked off this ride after the second time. There should be a strict no bumping rule. Had something crazy happened to my husband and I had sued, and this video was shown in court, where the girl was driving like this and was allowed to continue to do so, this company would be in a world of trouble.

Lastly, my money should’ve been refunded immediately! The whole experience was completely ruined. My husband is in the Army Guard, and a truck driver. Very hard manual labor and lifting. He was badly bruised on his entire right side. He spent the rest of his day sitting on the couch with ice on his arm and knee, and has been walking with a bad limp. How terrible it was to watch him limping off to work this morning, because of the incompetence of this place. The girl walked away laughing with her family like nothing serious happened. I walked away with a battered husband trying to hobble to his car. This is not right, my husband is a tuff guy, so he’s never really going to complain, but I will.

Rude unprofessional General Manger Melissa She is frustrated in her career choice. I was trying to explain the false advertisement on the website regarding 1 hour room rental and pizza and drinks. She is obviously use to people expecting food with a birthday package that is not available however clearly stated on the website that she called me angry and aggressive. All I was trying to do was explain what I read and continue to read as it is still posted. She then proceeded to over charge me and continue to cut me off while I was speaking or she would over talk me. I asked her not to call me or any African American woman angry and aggressive because we are stating facts. I was never given the opportunity to show her my communication with Jessie from sales. She also never sent anything in writing that food was not included not that the 1 hour of free party room would not be honored. I work in hospitality and this was piss poor service. Unfortunately bad service stinks from the head down the rest of the staff take guidance from the GM Melissa. Do not waste your money or your time. Had I not had 25 people coming to a party I would have left. I should not have had to endure that behavior from that person while spending over $1500 and ordering food $500 to race in cars with the front end shaking profusely. I told several people that car was not safe they did not remove it from the line up. Melissa also knew we were in the party room at the end of the track the announcements were barely audible. Poor Josh could not work with the group because he was working a station. Also we did not get photos taken as the website states we did not have an actual dedicated person until he brought us the bill for the tip. Then the last straw they took a little girl very capable of driving out of a car she has Downs Syndrome she was winning I believe because she was with my party they removed her from the race. We have videos of others crashing into bumpers and they were allowed to remind in the race. And please understand they were not capable of handling someone differently abled. Event...

We had a deeply disappointing experience at K1 Speed in Manassas. Weeks in advance, I checked their website and even called the facility directly to confirm whether my son would be able to drive for his 7th birthday. I was explicitly told that as long as he was over 48 inches tall, he would be allowed to race.

We planned everything around this — a Mario Kart-themed birthday, with my son incredibly excited for what was supposed to be the highlight of his day. When we arrived, he was measured and confirmed to be over the height requirement, just as we had verified in advance. But then, without warning, staff denied him access to the track because, according to them, he “locked his legs out” when asked to stretch them fully in the kart.

This was an arbitrary and subjective decision. He met the posted height requirement and had been cleared ahead of time — yet he was turned away based on a personal judgment call that has no basis in any clearly stated policy. To justify their decision, staff pointed to a section of their waiver about individuals with disabilities not being allowed to operate the vehicle — which was completely irrelevant and frankly insulting.

It became clear that K1 Speed has no real interest in allowing younger kids to participate, regardless of what they advertise. One of the staff members even admitted they wished national would raise the height requirement. When I offered to write to corporate to explain the inconsistency and their apparent position, they refused to forward anything or take any steps to flag the issue. When I asked if they’d prefer I just leave a review, they responded: “Do whatever you want.”

So here it is: They ruined my son’s 7th birthday. We could have done something else — something he would have actually enjoyed — if they hadn’t misled us. Instead, we left disappointed and upset, with a child in tears because the one thing he was looking forward to was taken away for no good reason.

K1 Speed Manassas is disorganized, arbitrary, and clearly not focused on delivering a reliable or family-friendly experience. I wouldn’t recommend...
