Service today was absolutely HORRIBLE with the exception of the guy who I’m assuming was a manager that stepped in to help (hence the 2*). My mother & I have worked in the food hospitality industry for years and we generally tip 30% or more if the service is average. Today there was a manager guy working, another guy working the bar, a young hostess, a woman in her late 20’s early 30’s and then our young girl server who was HORRIBLE. When my mom asked if the tamales had the corn husk on them, the girl said “they are just tamales.” She worked there & mind you didn’t speak much English and didn’t know how to describe the food at the place she works at. She took our order and didn’t come back to see if we wanted more chips before the food came out. Then she brought the food out but the manager brought out the rest. My brother asked for another beer and she left and never came back with his beer or EVEN CHECKED ON US TO SEE IF THE FOOD WAS ALRIGHT!!! Like, that is SERVING 101...you ALWAYS check to see if the customers are okay or if they need anything after serving the food! Well she didn’t...and when she did come back, she said “Do you need anything else?” ...as if we WERE BOTHERING HER. She was Absolutely horrible...the manager guy stepped in and got us more chips, my brother’s beer, a side of sour cream and checked on us to see if everything was okay!!!!!! If I ever go back, you better believe I will ask for a different server...she was just down right...
Read moreOn this day, I thought about going down to Chili's but then I passed El Rey Tolteca and thought that since it was closer, and served the same food I was after, I would stop in and give it a try.
The restaurant at the time that I visited (around 1 PM on a Tuesday) was very quiet and had almost nobody there.
The staff member who served me was very attentive and she was consistently checking on me to see that everything was good, and that I did not need a refill on my drink. She was attentive enough to not be one of those "fly-on-the-wall" constantly-watching waitresses, nor was she the "out back smoking, and never seen" ones. The service provided was just the right mix, and came out to perfection.
The reason for the one-star off from perfection is due to the food served. I asked for only cheese and sour cream. What came out was refried beans, covered in cheese in desperately wanted to put on my fajita, no additional cheese anywhere in sight, brown rice, 2 burning hot tortillas, and a mix of super-thin sliced chicken and steak strips mixed into a pile of onions and peppers.
Plate was extremely hot, to the point the waitress had to bring it out with a glove, with no warning to the customer, and also no plate to put the creation of a fajita on....
They could have done better, but overall, it was a nice time. Thanks...
Read moreThis is a great Mexican place! The atmosphere is the typical Mexican vibe with a lot of Myan influences. It's really cute. The food was delicious! They have a good amount of vegeterian options. I got a platter with a bean burrito and cheese enchilada. It also came with rice, as most of their dishes do. It was all very yummy. I especially loved the cheese enchilada. It was made with a queso Blanco, and it had a really good, rich flavor. The rice was seasoned well and paired really nicely with the dish. My boyfriend got the Azteca burrito and said it was very good and the steak in it was cooked very nicely. Warning: If you order beer and the waitress asks if you want a small glass or large, she means a normal sized glass or a pitcher. My dad ended up with a whole lot of beer to drink. The prices were much more reasonable than most of the other Mexican places I've seen in the area. And the service was great! Now we know where to go for good Mexican food. We can't wait to come back and try their...
