KIDS KLUB LA FITNESS TAKE HEED IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WITH A DISABILITY I’ve been taking my son (who has high functioning Autism) to the Kids Klub at LA Fitness Terrell Mill for almost a year and never had a single issue until Ms. Vaughn started working there. Suddenly, she began alleging that my son was being “aggressive,” which is completely out of character and not supported by his daily ABA therapy reports or the previous Kids Klub caregiver, Ms. Karen, who worked with him regularly without problems. Since Ms. Vaughn, I’ve noticed inconsistent and unfair treatment — one day Ms. Vaughn said the maximum number of kids allowed was 15, then the very next visit claimed it was 10 and refused to let my son in. She’s also suggested I bring in a device to keep him occupied instead of encouraging him to play, also upon entering the kids klub one session I heard her telling small children to keep the toys off the floor, which is unacceptable in a kids’ center. Now my son has even been banned from the Kids Klub without ANY documentation, proof, or communication with me as a parent. If his behavior were truly an issue, I should have been contacted immediately, which NEVER happened. I was completely dumbfounded when I was able to check my son in at the front desk with no issue, just to be told by Ms. Vaughn that my son is banned. As a parent, I feel my son has been discriminated against because of his autism, and I cannot recommend this location to other families until LA Fitness addresses this issue with accountability and fairness. Children with disabilities deserve to be treated equally and with respect — not singled out.
UPDATE 8/19 Called up to the gym & I spoke with Lexi, the manager of the store and she was absolutely no help, she claimed she could not find his parent's information when prior to me leaving yesterday, (8/18) I wrote my name, my sons name and my telephone # for contact, she never intended to reach out to me honestly and that was a very weak excuse to not reach out for such a urgent matter. She also advised me they have no policy whatsoever on the max amount of kids that get to be in the kids klub, the caregiver gets to make that call. I find it very hard to believe that a company as large as LA Fitness has no set guidelines on the absolute maximum amount of kids allotted in the facility at a given time.
Further more she explained they don't have any cameras in this kids klub, so we cannot confirm any of these incidents because guess what? THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION or INCIDENT REPORTS! So now its all on a he say, she say basis. Lexi also mentioned she walked in and seen my son being physical with another kid, yet she did not reach out to me, AGAIN the incident was NOT documented.
Lexi mentioned that the employees in the kids klub are not trained to handle children with disabilities, on my sons 1st day with Ms. Vaughn, i advised her he has autism - THAT WAS HER OPPURTUNITY to be transparent with me, not once did she say anything to me. Prior to Ms.Vaughn, we had MINIMAL issues.
These are serious allegations and should be handled as such, why are they not taking this much more seriously with proper documentation and also involving me as the parent more. No one has ever called me or came to get me while in the gym to come get my son for these accusations to be SO severe that...
Read moreThis location is terrible. Not only is is small, the workers SUCK and have terrible customer service. I came here to this location with a guest pass to enter and was forcfully told by a lame sales boy named Demetrius Medcaff that I couldn't enter without a Georgia Drivers License. I say to him, well your guest pass doesn't say anything about being able to enter to the facility without a local driver's license. It doesn't say anything about bringing in a driver's license at all let alone being required to have a Georgia driver's license. I tried to explain this to him how customers service works and he proceeded to cut me off and was very insensitive to us driver so far to be told something rediculous and totally out of the blue when i arrived with my guest. That's absolutely rediculous! and the Demetrius was very insensitive and tried in no way to help me and my little brother except sayin it's $15 dollars a piece ifor yout want to enter. We both had guest passes...they only say to just have this pass and we could enter the facility with no trouble.
I even explained myself to him as to why I have an Ohio DL and not Georgia. I just moved here a few days ago and don't have them yet. But either way it goes I am giving you identification that wasn't asked of me before I was emailed the guest pass.
Who wants to drive miles ansd miles to a facility thinking theyre about to work out for free on a guest pass and then are told you have to pay $15/day to enter and also that its required I have a Georgia Driver's License??? He could have just let us in the facility based on customer service because we were NEVER EVER MADE AWARE THAT YOU NEED A Georgia License in order to enter the facility. THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME... If he valued customer service, all he needed to do was simply scan the bar code or just look at my ID and keep it moving. The fact that he didn't shows how terrible the customer service is and how poorly and unorganized this...
Read moreThis place is ALWAYS filthy. Im talking used band-aids that don't get cleaned up for days, mold and rusted metal in bathrooms from lack of proper exhaust. Bathrooms never have soap, toilet paper, or toilet lid covers stocked(just pray you don't need the bathroom while here I guess). The showers have mold and mildew everywhere. I've literally seen an employee clean the floor(only once in my over 7 years of being a member of la fitness)by sweeping all the hair and dirt into the middle of the floor above the drain and just leave it. They have a huge building but it seems they dont have a custodian that cleans regulary (not even daily), and things stay broken a long time because they only have 1 maintenance man for this whole area that floats between multiple gyms. Not to mention the time like 3 cars had the windows busted and purses/bags stolen in broad daylight in the closest row of parking spots to the building(still have yet to see any form of security after this) I like the amount of equipment they have, but during peak times this place is so packed the fire marshal would shut it down with one glance. I called corporate with weeks worth of pics from this dumpster of a gym, they were dismissive and just offered to cancel my account or give me "free" access to any other LA fitness. Lo and behold, the akers mills location is only a fraction better than terrell mill. If there was another option I could afford with a pool then I would gladly cancel today. Please don't sign up here if you have options, this place is making money hand over fist and just refuses to put it into upkeeping...
