Five stars is absolutely not enough for what Level Up did. Sorry for the length of this review, but there aren't enough words that can possibly explain my extreme gratitude and elation for the devoted and heroic effort of the girls at Level Up for saving my wife's long blond hair in an extreme hair knot emergency. Tamara, Rose, Janet, and Marisol ALL played a key role in saving my wife's hair. We are not even sure how it happened, but my wife wrapped her freshly washed hair in a bun (like she has done countless times before) and went about her day, and 4 hours later when she took off the hair tie, there remained a large knot of hair that was SO tight it felt like someone dropped a golf ball sized glob of glue in her hair. We could not get it out, no matter what we tried. We googled it and tried every suggestion on google to no avail. It was already midnight so no place was open to call. We asked one person we know that used to do hair for her help, drove to her home at 1am and she tried to work on it for 5 minutes and said that it's going to have to get cut out. My wife was absolutely DEVASTATED, she loves her long hair and it took well over 10 years to grow. I said no, we will get this out, and I took her home and worked on it until 6am trying to get this knot out, using 3 tubes of leave-in conditioner to try and loosen this up. I managed to loosen it up a bit, but was nowhere near getting it out. She broke down sobbing, that we would not get this knot out and she would have to cut all her hair off and she did not want that. Next morning I called Level Up based on their better Google Reviews over a nearby competitor and explained the situation to Rose and pleaded with her to save my wife's hair. Rose gave her an appointment for noon Friday. When we got there, Rose and Tamara met her at the door and couldn't have been sweeter. They sat her down and assessed the situation and acknowledged this was something they NEVER saw before, but they would get this out for her no matter how long it would take. My wife didn't care how long, as long as they could get it out and save her hair. On Friday the team of Tamara, Rose, and Janet ALL worked feverishly all day at the same time on her hair, until 5pm....they got the knot down at least 50%....but still had a lot to go. We arranged for my wife to get back there at 9am Saturday. She was scared and stressed and barely slept that night because she was SO scared they wouldn't be able to succeed and she would lose her long beautiful hair. No amount of reassuring helped her. Saturday morning 9am, she was met at the front desk by Janet, Rose, and Marisol and they immediately began their magic. I left to do some work at home and got a call around noon from my wife "THEY GOT IT OUT" and she was SO happy she was crying! They didn't have to cut anything out! Some of her hair was damaged and broken from being knotted and them having to more or less dig at the knot for 8-9 hours, but her length was saved! They then decided to cut about 5 inches of damage off, and it still looks absolutely FANTASTIC, my wife loves how her hair looks now and is so grateful she still has her length. Everyone says she looks younger with her new hairdo! She was SO happy and I am forever grateful to Tamara, Rose, Janet, and Marisol for their patience and willingness to keep going, their devotion to succeeding, their warmth and friendliness keeping my wife calm in time of extreme stress offering her snacks and water to make her feel comfortable, and their sheer determination to achieve this goal successfully....I simply cannot ever thank them enough. I hope the owner and manager of Level Up will recognize these angels that were sent from above to deliver this miracle of saving my wife's hair. THANK YOU ALL A MILLION TIMES!!! If you ever have any hair emergency that you need fixed immediately, don't worry they even take walk-ins! Including some before...
Read moreAfter my first visit here, I won’t be coming back again. I initially had a consultation with inspiration photos where my goal was to have low maintenance brown hair. One of the 4 photos was an inspo from the stylist, to show the color that I wanted.
When all was done, I was very unhappy with my hair. Blonde highlights to my root, which I clearly explained that I grew out my hair for the purpose of keeping it close to my natural hair color. She also told me I had to come back every 6-12 weeks when I explained I wanted low maintenance hair.
When cutting my hair, I explained I wanted about 4 fingers length cut. After she made the chop, she asked me how I wanted the layering and I said I wanted a soft V. To which she replied “you should have told me before because it’s too late now”. Why did you cut it before asking? This made me so uncomfortable.
I called the salon to correct the mistakes and the stylist proceeded to tell me that the style I wanted was balayage and not highlights. This made me again feel uncomfortable because I am not a professional. I showed her my inspo photos again and detailed again exactly how I wanted my hair. To which she again pointed out that the process is different. At no point did she apologize and instead proceeded to tell me that she would have to charge me another $200 on top of the $300+ I already spent. I just wanted to get rid of the blonde so we went with a root and gloss. This at least made me happy leaving the salon knowing the mistake was partially corrected but now I had to worry about the gloss washing out. I have these streaky highlights that now I need to go to another salon to correct.
This experience was horrible and I would not go back here again. I did not feel heard, that my consultation was a waste of time if the stylist decided to do what they wanted anyways on the day of the appointment. Added a second star only because she tried to fix it...
Read moreI absolutely love my stylist Marisol but I am very disappointed in how this salon is owned/managed. I usually don’t get blowouts here because I kept getting quoted $60 for a blowout even when it is tacked onto another service. But when I made an appointment to get my hair cut here a few months ago, I was told I could get a blowout for $20 so I agreed. I didn’t get my hair cut by my usual stylist. Then I got my color done this past Saturday and I didn’t check the price the blowout would be beforehand. It was $75!!!! On top of the hair color and toner. I called today just to discuss the situation. I wasn’t trying to get my money back or anything. I wasn’t even really upset when I called. But because of the response of the receptionist, I got very upset. She told me my situation had nothing to do with the pricing policies of the salon and that Marisol decided to charge me the $75 for the blowout and that she can’t give me a discount every time. I didn’t even get my hair done by Marisol when the blowout price was $20. The receptionist kept interrupting me as I tried to explain that it makes no sense for a blowout to be $20 in one case and $75 in another case. She did tell me a few times that she understood I was frustrated. I asked her what the owner has to do with the pricing of services and instead of answering me, she said, “The owner can do whatever she wants because it’s her salon.” I was going to continue going there but I don’t think I can even though I adore Marisol. It seems like they have no set policy on what to charge for blowouts. One more thing— I looked for a menu of their prices and it’s buried in their booking service Vagaro and...
