DO NOT HAVE YOUR KIDS ATTEND THEIR SUMMER CAMP!
Update: the response is OBVIOUSLY by Brooke, itâs comical how unprofessional this business is to make up I called her a little squirt! SHAME on you Merritt! Also she most certainly said she was locked in the bathroom bc they have locks on the outside of the kids zones bathroom. WHY WOULD I MAKE THIS UP?
I couldnât wait to run out of there once my membership was up. Itâs a shame bc we really enjoyed the Whitemarsh and Canton location. We live so close to the Towson location, we ended our very long family membership. They will literally hire anyone off the street to watch your kids. My then three year-old toddler went to summer camp there, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, all summer which I ended up stopping seven days before it was to end and was never refunded my money. My daughter was locked in the Daycare bathroom for 20 minutes and the only reason I know is because my daughter told me. When dropping my daughter off hearing her scream, irately mommy mommy donât leave me was my first sign. I tried one more time, hearing her scream and then pulled her out to find out why she was screaming. When I confronted Brooke, who is the head of their daycare, she did explain that Kassidy had been locked in by mistake. Unacceptable! The worst part is my three-year-old had to tell me, and if I didnât have a daughter who communicated with me, I wouldâve never known! I have another friend who canceled their membership after they said one of the counselors had been aggressive with her child.
Iâm actually leaving this review later than I wanted to bc I have been so traumatized by this gym I havenât had the words. right after this incident Brooke had the audacity to pull me aside and ask if my kids were getting home safe?!?! Maybe Brooke should be more worried about if the kids are safe in their possession than with their own mother! The way that Brooke handled the situation was divergent. I actually really liked her at first. I even considered having her watch my kids at my home before all of this! Iâm so happy that she never did! I stopped going for a few months because we were all traumatized.
My daughter started school. So I gave it another chance just to feel completely uncomfortable walking into that gym every time I didâŠthen I get an email to review and give comments about the gym so I explain this situation and you know who responded to me the person I have an issue with Brooke. Completely unprofessional it shouldâve been taken to upper management and responded accordingly. So my advice to mothers is think twice before you ever allow your children to go to summer camp there.
I feel like Brooke completely monopolizes her position. Even to the point where one of the last times I attended that gym I came with my sister and I had both of the kids to look out for each other in the kids club. I literally watched Brooke talking to the two people that shouldâve been watching the kids inside the kids zone talk to them for at least 15 minutes without any eyes in that daycare just all eyes on her. Even when I came to grab my children, I had to go in and grab them because they were still fixated on what Brooke was saying.
I will never be a member of Merritt again.

   Read moreI recently joined and I am very satisfied with the Towson gym and it's facilities and, especially employee customer service. Smiles, genuine service with compassion, quick action and just overall kind and helpful. I appreciate the gym being clean and offering free towels with no limit. I'm going to try classes soon. There was a hiccup yesterday with my second visit when I brought my mother as a guest. Unfortunately the lift for the pool ran out of juice and needed to be charged halfway through getting my mom out. But the lifeguard I wish I knew his name was very helpful and the other employee Malik as well. Sorry if your name is spelled wrong. Even though they didn't know how to fix the issue right away they called their superiors immediately and were able to give us answers and even help my mom physically get out of the pool. Everyone did their job and me and my mom are very grateful. One thing I hope they do is have portable large capacity shower chairs for disabled individuals and overweight individuals as well. Right now there's just been one big white chair like a lawn chair that's hard to fit in the shower stall. But a manager called me today and asked me how everything was going and I let him know all the issues and how happy I am despite the issues to be a member at the gym. Super receptive. My Spidey senses couldn't sense jerk or annoyed at all. I believe the changes will be made quickly to training and facilities. The manager was happy to reassure me today and I was happy to reassure that manager. I'm sure we both walked away feeling heard and that matters to me. I can't wait for more experiences!    Read moreEdit after their response: Apparently members are just numbers to them. Don't expect reasonable accomodations as they're more than willing to have you cancel your membership. And I didn't ask for calls to all members, but to those who haven't shown up for months while you bill them.
I waited months for them to reopen after the March close, finally checking on October 1, 2020 that they were open, and I went back that day. I checked with my relative whose credit card it was being billed to, and he was surprised to see that they had charged him for July, August, and September. No notice was received that the gym was reopening or billing would commence.
I asked for those three months to be applied to future months when I actually use the facilities. The billing representative applied one of the months to the November, but refused to apply the rest. She informed me that the primary account member had unsubscribed from emails and I should have been following the gym's social media accounts. In the past, I had requested my email be used and no explanation has been provided for why it was not. Nor for why a quick phone call was not made if you're billing someone but can see they have not used the facilities for months.
I responded one more time asking for all three months' charged dues to be applied to future months, or I would be cancelling my membership. They again declined and agreed to terminate my membership at the end of November.
Also, completely unrelated, but in December of 2018 my locker was broken into and my wallet stolen. Employees mentioned that it was far from the first time this occurred. So beware leaving...
