Outdoor Lighting Perspectives installed some beautiful hanging LED lights in my trees and also a good amount of LED bistro lights over my back patio in mid-2021. Everybody at the company is very friendly but I have been disappointed in the quality of the products they installed. I will add photos shortly.
The poles they put into my backyard to drape the bistro lights across are all long wooden posts. It would have been better if these were finished metal poles instead so I don't have to worry about the posts degrading over time. I didn't realize at the time but I wish they would have brought this up. Or maybe they don’t offer metal poles? Restaurants and bars in the area use metal poles for good reason. They also left piles of dirt right next to the posts instead of spreading it or taking it away.
On top of that, they did not offer a smart option for the outdoor 12V transformer. I have had to plug in my own smart outdoor socket. Not a huge deal but would be nice if they offered a nicer option.
OLP installed a dimmer switch for my bistro lights only but it broke within a couple weeks of installation and it took them months to get a similar looking nice option. They offered to install a very ugly option quickly but it was either/or so I chose to wait.
Finally, we have had about a dozen LED bistro lights fail since they installed them. OLP was nice enough to come out to replace the failed LED bulbs a couple times but now they tell me that I am no longer in their "Shine" program and they want to charge me $125 to replace a couple more failed bulbs. LED bulbs should have at least 10 years of lifetime with continuous use normally so the fact that so many bulbs are failing is a real quality issue.
In fact, the technician that replaced the bulbs was knowledgeable enough to show me that these bulbs actually have points of ingress in them that allows water to seep into them and short the electronics. When I asked OLP to replace all the bulbs with different versions that would not fail so much they declined and instead offered to extend the warranty on the bulbs I have (seemingly to delay until they could sell me the Shine program). Now only a few months later OLP is wanting to charge me the $125 fee to replace only the failed ones again.
Overall, I expected 12V outdoor lighting to be a set and forget upgrade but OLP has made this an annoying hassle for the past year. Now excuse me while I go replace all the LED bulbs myself for my lighting system that cost thousands of dollars...
Read moreThe company's owner personally walked our property and gave us a price to repair / rewire 28 landscape lights. We were very clear that we did not want to upgrade the existing lighting since the property was being listed for sale. They ended up leaving only 8 lights functioning. They said they were unable to fix the other lights and removed them from the property refusing to show us the damaged lights. They offered to replace the other lights at a cost of over $100 per light and that was in addition to the over $900 they were charging from the original quote. Start with 28 lights for a quote of $900, end up with 8 lights. The owner himself walked the property for the quote. They also showed further incompetence when they were unable to program the light timers correctly. A lighting company that can't program a light timer correctly? Additionally, they left wires unburied which was part of the original quote. The owner's words when questioned? "We were kind of in a rush for your job." They reduced the quote to $600 AFTER much demanding by us but refused to reduce any further. We had another company clean up what they were unable to finish for far far far less than their original quote. Also their scheduling was a nightmare with schedule, re-schedule, cancel, re-schedule, etc. Their owner's own words: "I know this makes us look unprofessional." They refused to adjust their bill to reflect the actual work they did and threatened to put a lien on our home. Stay as far away from this company as possible. We elected to pay them their $600 for 8 "repaired" bulbs vs dealing with...
Read moreI was looking to upgrade my antiquated landscape lighting system as well as get away from purchasing new Christmas lights and install & remove them each year. I came across Outdoor Lighting Perspective of Houston who had the perfect solution. Their salesperson Jim spent some time explaining the Gemstone solution and how the system worked. He had samples on hand to see how the lights looked and worked. The installing technician Jose was skillful and installed the lighting system and had it running in a day and a half. The gemstone lighting app is easy to install and with a bit of learning one gets the hang of it. The entire system was installed just in time for Christmas and I enjoyed changing the lighting sequence each day to the envy of my neighbors. Once Christmas is over will set it to Architectural lightening. Best of all OLP offers a one year warranty on the system. Thank you OLP. I am enjoying the...
