I'm a 31 year customer of Sawnee EMC & it has been probably 20+ years since I have called their office. I typically just use their website but today, I could not find an answer to a simple question. Their website is not user friendly at all. Instead of posting answers to simple questions, they make you download PDF after PDF, which don't even have the answers you are looking for. After downloading numerous PDF's with no luck, I called "customer service" to inquire about peak & off peak hours. My neighbor has saved a lot of $ doing laundry & other things during off peak hours & I wanted to try it myself. Simple question one would think! I was connected to DOTTIE, who was SO hostile & rude when I asked what the hours were, that I was stunned that a "customer service" representative would speak to any customer, much less a 31 year customer like she did. It's obvious DOTTIE hates her job, hates Sawnee's customers & just hates people in general! She refused to simply give me the peak & off peak hours, instead insisting I go back to the website. I explained nicely that I had downloaded multiple PDF's with no answers & asked if she could just give me the information over the phone. She yelled "MAAM, I AM TALKING" & proceeded to refer me back to the Sawnee website. She then placed me on hold for whatever reason. She came back on the line & gave me the days, hours, months that were peak hours so fast, that I could not write all of the information down as I do not know shorthand. I asked her to "slow down" as I wanted to ensure I had the correct information, "if she could go a little slower." I wrote everything down & she said "excluding July 4th." I said "so would July 4th be peak all day or"....she cut me off before I was finished & yelled "EXCLUDING JULY 4TH" again. I merely wanted to find out if holidays would be peak or off peak but she was SO hostile that I finally asked to speak to a supervisor, hopefully to get answers to my simple question without being abused. She came back & said "it would be awhile as they only have one supervisor after 5p" & when I started to ask for the supervisors name so I could just call back tomorrow before 5p, she hung up on me. I have never been so abused by anyone like I was by DOTTIE, merely for asking a question not even pertaining to my account. Why would a person be in a position whose job description is "helping customers" who absolutely hates those customers? We're all in this crazy world together so why be so venomous to another human being! If you ever call Sawnee & DOTTIE picks up, hang up & call back as DOTTIE is the rudest, most hateful, hostile person I have ever dealt with in my entire life. DOTTIE is not interested in "helping" her customers, you are truly bothering her asking for help & you will suffer her wrath for sure. If she was one of my company ambassadors dealing with my customers, she would be fired as all the training in the world will not change someone who hates people. All over a simple question AFTER I could not get answers on their website. Sawnee should be ashamed to have such a nasty, miserable human being like DOTTIE dealing with their customers. I have not decided if I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but judging by the terrible "customer service" reviews here which do not seem to get better, perhaps I will do just that as at least the bad behavior will have to be acknowledged!...

I recently had a highly unpleasant experience with Sawnee EMC, the electric company serving my area. Their lack of assistance and unwillingness to address my concerns left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Despite being a victim of my roommate's malicious actions, Sawnee EMC showed no empathy or willingness to help resolve the situation.
The trouble began when my roommate falsely claimed that their payment was fraudulent, simply because they had recently moved out and seemingly wanted to make my life more difficult. As the account was under my name, I reached out to Sawnee EMC for assistance in resolving this issue. However, instead of providing any form of support, they made it incredibly challenging for me to make payments.
Living 35 minutes away from their location, I requested alternative payment methods such as using a card, which would have been more convenient for me. Shockingly, Sawnee EMC refused to accommodate my request, leaving me with limited options to settle the bill. This lack of flexibility and understanding is completely unacceptable, especially considering the current economic climate and the fact that many individuals, like myself, rely on splitting bills with roommates.
In an attempt to escalate the matter and explain the situation further, I requested to speak with a supervisor. However, my request was denied, leaving me feeling unheard and disregarded. This level of dismissiveness towards customers is deeply disappointing and reflects poorly on Sawnee EMC's commitment to providing quality customer service.
I had hoped to switch to a different electric company, but unfortunately, that is not an option. It is disheartening to realize that I am stuck with a company that demonstrates such a lack of empathy and fails to prioritize the needs of its customers.
In conclusion, my experience with Sawnee EMC has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Their unhelpful and unsympathetic customer service, coupled with their refusal to accommodate reasonable requests, has left me deeply dissatisfied. Read moreTerrible. We have not had power for a week. It has been cold and raining. We are now under a frost warning. We have no power because sawnee says it takes 10-14 days for them to come out and install a meter face. The lady says go somewhere else. Lady i am an orphan with no family. I have nowhere else to go. It's already been a week and its only getting colder so I can freeze to death because you all couldn't take 10 minutes to come plug in a meter face. Heartless, no good, Terrible company. The county came out and inspected the next day after we paid for the inspection. There is no need for underground work, you have the report from the county saying everything is cleared and ready. At our last house, the transformer was arching. They sent someone out an hour later. But now Sawnee wants to take 2 weeks to plug in a meter face. It's already been a week with no power and cold temps. I call now and she says, oh there's nothing I can do. The tech finally comes out and says "what took them so long to send the work order? This is stupid. It's just installing a meter face". We say "we know. We told them that. But all they are capable of is reading a script. Listening to reason isnt something they are capable of". The techs laughed and say yea it's bad, that's all they do. Thats why they suck so bad. They dont listen or pay attention." So we waited 2 weeks because the ladies that answer the phone never send over the work order. They day it was sent, the techs show up and have my meter face plugged in 10 minutes. Seriously they were here 10 minutes. But the people in the office say 10-14 days because its underground and needs a secondary installed. No it doesnt but they didn't want to listen. The technician agreed that was simple and ridiculous that they made us freeze for 2 weeks because they didn't want to send the work order over or listen to us who had seen it in person. Instead the office, who has never been to the field, has the attitude "i work here so i know more ". No I did undergeound utilities. Fiber, low voltage, and over head high tension. You have never left your desk but you would rather make a fool of yourself instead...
