Strad Meadery — Attraction in Rancho Cordova

This review is for the business only, not the product. I have no idea if the mead is good or bad but I can tell you that the online website leaves much to be desired. I have a dear friend who loves Mead. After going through all that Google has to offer in way of searches for meaderies I was happy to see that we had one right in the area, Strad! I checked out website and saw they shipped and that their pricing was pretty good and so I ordered, thinking if my friend likes these we can hit the tasting room when he comes to visit at Christmas. Ordering through PayPal I thought that I was safe....well I never got an email or a ship date/tracking # until I called business, unfortunately, their phone service leads you in an endless loop on the shipping side. So I managed to leave a message for the tasting room. Two days later I received a call from a befuddled gentleman who basically said he wasn't even aware that they were shipping orders, and they had a new system...he said he would text me when the order had been shipped and we left it at that, I'm still waiting for the text BTW. Thank goodness on the PayPal side I just received a notice that FedEx had gotten a notice and shipping was in the works. I placed the order on Sept 18th, the order shipped on the 24th and I am waiting to see if it gets there on the 26th.....all in all not very professional on Strad's part, fingers crossed my friend...

I ordered some mead through their website on June 7th. Money got taken out of my account and everything seemed good. Was super excited to try their mead as they have many good reviews. After a few days of not receiving and email or anything correspondence I tried messaging them via their website and not no reply. I tried emailing them at their listed email via the paypal payment confirmation a few days after that, again no reply. I tried messaging again on their website and got no answer. I called and spoke with "James" who said he would look into it and get back to me the very same day and mentioned something about server issues but didn't get me any details about the multiple times I had tried contacting or my order at all. It is now 3 days later and I am done. Based off my experience and time wasted I would rather not give them my business or future business. I tried calling a second time as well and no one answered. At this point it is 4 days shy of an entire month with them not contacting me or anything. Pretty disappointed. I would not recommend doing business with them unfortunately. Which sucks because I am really happy that places are making mead and want to...

I've heard a lot about this mead places and decided to pass buy it on a marathon trip of local breweries.

I wish I had come to this place first as I had already had quite a bit that day for a full tasting but I did soldier on with a few tastings.

I half expected mead to be similar to cider but it definitely was a bit more subtle than most of the hard ciders I tried. On top of this, the meads seem to have a bigger ABV than their hard cider counterparts.

Regarding this business, they are definitely one of the smaller places I've been to. It's nice and cozy but definitely a plant to visit with a small group as opposed to our group of 12. I ended up picking a bottle to take home but I can imagine coming here for the unique flavors they carry. If hard ciders are your favorite, this is definitely a...
