UPDATE: Kristen responded to my review and called me a Liar. I uploaded images of the voicemail transcript so you can see exactly what I said was true. You can see the date of the voicemail she left was 7/17/23 and the transcript shows that she said the payment did not process on the sixth. Which is 11 days, not 3 weeks as she wrote in her response. And as you can see twice in the voicemail transcript she threated me with collections. It seems she in fact is the liar. So insulting and unprofessional. Shame on you Kristen, not only did you treat me horribly on my call with you yesterday, you just called me a liar. Thankfully I have documents to prove what I said is true.
ORIGINAL REVIEW POSTED: If I could give a zero I would. When you prioritize money over people, you never succeed. I just had the most ridiculous experience with Kristen at Studio K. I signed up for dance classes earlier this year. I chose the annual contract and was able to attend a few classes.
Shortly after I signed up I experienced devastating circumstances that kept me from being able to attend classes for several months. Even so, I continued to pay my $50 payment without fail month after month.
When I went on vacation for the July 4th holiday one of my debit cards was compromised. I did not realize that this was the card I use to make my monthly payments as I had signed up months before. Since the card was closed due to it being compromised, the payment was not able to go through on July 6th.
Today, July 17th I received a voicemail from Kristen at Studio K, which was very lengthy, threatening me with collections.
I immediately called her back to correct the situation. I explained to Kristen that my card had been compromised. She had no sympathy or consideration just said that if I didn’t pay I would be sent to collections (after being 11 days late) and repeated what she said on the voicemail.
I said this is the first call that I received and she said “well we sent several emails.” She continue to argue with me in the most ridiculous way saying that I shouldn’t provide an email that I’m not checking. And I should’ve called them to let them know my card was compromised. Again, I explained I was on vacation and haven’t checked my email and still she repeated the same thing over and over.
I was treated like I was some type of deadbeat. Again the payment was 11 days late. It’s completely insulting. I would never treat any of my clients with this type of disrespect.
It sounds like Kristen has experience as a debt collector because the aggressive approach she took was as if I owed her $10,000.00 and she has been attempting to collect it over the last six months!
If she would have treated me with any kindness or respect I would have updated my payment and continued, but after this horrific experience, I decided to cancel my contract and pay a $150 early termination fee.
I’m not interested in supporting ANY small business that doesn’t care about its customers. Especially one that threatens legal action over an 11 day overdue payment. It’s obvious that money is much more important than the customer. With this type of attitude, I don’t see Studio K being open for much longer.
I recommend another dance studio where they actually care for their dancers.
If Google would allow images to be uploaded, I would happily upload the snapshots of the voicemail transcript that Kristen left, so you can read Word for Word how she treated me.
If you decide to go forward with this business, you may be on the receiving end of this type of behavior. Save yourself the disrespect and find another...
Read moreI had a yearning to start to learn to dance for about a year, without knowing how or where to start. After attempting online searches, I continuously failed to find a place to go in my local area, and it can be terrifying to go on your own. With no prior dance experience at the age of 27, I was nervous about attending a class.
I ended up at Studio K in March of 2023 because a friend of mine, who I trust, was teaching classes there. I was unsure of myself, and that first class, I did my best to learn the movements in his contemporary class, and felt proud of how I did afterwards, even if I felt like I'd just jumped into the deep end of dance by taking contemporary as my first style.
After that class, I kept coming back. I've attended a few other styles, and have found Studio K to be a safe learning environment. I've never felt judged for my lack of knowledge in dance terminology. The individuals that I have encountered that teach the classes are all passionate about the dance, and kind souls. The owner of the studio is a sweetheart - this studio is her dream, and you can tell that she cherishes it, as well as the various students and teachers that walk through its door.
Coming to class is something I look forward to here. I, personally, have taken contemporary, jazz funk, hip hop, musical theater, beginner ballet, and deep stretch classes in the approximately four-and-a-half months of attending this studio, and come at least once a week. I've definitely seen myself grow as a dancer throughout my experience here, as well as start to heal my relationship with fitness, in general, and I definitely plan to continue coming.
The classes are reasonably priced, at $10 a class, with the exception being their workshop classes on Fridays, which are themed, longer classes that end up being a lot of fun, but even then, are still affordable at $15. And if you find yourself wanting to come more often, there's also an option of purchasing 10 courses for $85 (does not cover workshops), saves you $15 on ten classes. She offers a discount on this option for anyone who works at the theme parks.
I adore this studio so much, and definitely would recommend coming to it, whether you're an experienced dancer, someone new to dance as I am, or someone who hasn't danced in a while and wants to get back into it, it's a welcoming place to be. Even if you aren't a dancer, there's fitness-style courses, such as Hip Hop Tone Up, Zumba, and Deep Stretch. And, if you're a Star Wars fan, there's also a Lightsaber technique class.
All that said, definitely come try a class! You might just find your new place that feels like home in...
Read moreI have no experience in dance, but I’ve always been interested in learning and wanted to find a way to make dance a part of my life despite having a very busy career in veterinary medicine. Studio K is EXACTLY what I was searching for and it is absolutely amazing!! I was so excited to find a facility near me that offers a wide variety of adult dance classes and dance fitness classes for all experience levels that actually fits into my hectic schedule. As a beginner and naturally shy individual, I was really nervous about attending the dance classes. However, I soon learned I was my only critic. There has never been any feeling of judgement at Studio K. Even my husband has had fun joining in on some of the classes and he claims to have no rhythm at all. Kristen, the owner of the studio is one of the genuinely nicest people I have ever met in my entire life, she is extremely encouraging to all, and she greets everyone by name which I find extremely impressive. She has even reached out to me personally via phone and Facebook when she knows a class I usually take has changed. I’ve never received customer service that incredible at any gym (or really anywhere) in my entire life. Even during the pandemic (once gyms were allowed to reopen), I have felt extremely safe attending classes at the studio because of the detailed cleaning protocol in place and because of the natural social distancing and no-contact aspect of the classes. I feel much safer at the studio than I do at any other gym. This dance studio is truly a stand-out in the industry and having it in my life has improved my work-life balance and my health/fitness. I look forward to attending class each night, and I am working hard to try to improve my dance ability with each class I take. This studio has become my happy place, there are certain classes I look forward to all week, and now I cannot imagine my life...
