The Collins — Attraction in Belmont

My girlfriend and I enjoy living at the Collins, aside from a few issues that need to be addressed. We’ve lived here for almost a year at this point, and the new management company is leagues better than the old one.

Pros: great staff, great value, everything new, garages available, gym and pool area is good (pool could use some cabanas and more umbrellas, but Covid supply has messed with that) most neighbors are somewhat nice, landscaping is great. Basically 15 minutes from everything.

Cons: I have two big cons. 1. Neighbors with loud bass entertainment systems after quiet hours. For the past few months, one of my neighbors rattles my apartment from 9pm to 1am a few nights a week with their bass. I’m talking the walls are vibrating. Sometimes I can sleep through it, sometimes it keeps me up. I’ve contacted the courtesy officer multiple times and the office. After months of this, the courtesy officer states they can’t do anything and refuses to contact the offending tenant. My only recourse is contacting the police, which end up taking 1-2 hours to respond to a noise complaint. Taking them away from actual crimes. Something that can be taken care of by the courtesy officer in 20 minutes. Frustrating. There are not enough package lockers for all of the apartments here. All of the lockers are constantly overloaded and plenty of packages are either left out in the open or shoved into the dreaded locker 67 with 50 other packages. Have fun with that Tetris game. Thankfully I haven’t experienced any packages being stolen by any sticky fingers.

All in all the Collins are new, great apartments that just need a little bit of TLC to make them perfect. The pro’s outweigh the cons significantly despite my inconsiderate...

Renter beware, look elsewhere…

I moved to The Collins in October and it was probably the worst move-in experience with an apartment complex I’ve ever had. My move-in date was pushed back a month before I was supposed to move in. This left me scrambling with trying to find a place to stay and a place to store my belongings (I was moving out of state).

Construction has been an ongoing nightmare and I truly feel bad for anyone that lives here and works from home. The parking lots by the back buildings have been a mess for the past few months with construction equipment, noise, construction dust/dirt, unsafe situations with uneven pavement/electric wires/etc. We finally got street lights installed a week or two ago - anyone walking their dogs had to do so in the dark and I watched my neighbors walk their dogs with their cell phone flashlights. Extremely poor planning and judgement to lease these apartments without all of this being completed.

Apartments are very cheaply constructed and you can tell they cut corners while building these. You can hear EVERY flush, shower, and step your upstairs neighbors take. If you have inconsiderate upstairs neighbors that like to move furniture at 6am on the weekends, smoke, or play loud music until 2am during the weekdays - like I do - you’re out of luck.

At this point, I’m highly considering ending my lease early. This is not “luxury”, as they advertise, and not...
