If I could leave no stars I would. The reason it gets one star is because the prices are reasonable. This was my wife and my first time ever holding, shooting or seeing a gun. I have wanted to go shoot a gun for a while. I read good reviews about this location and how it was accommodating to first time users. We went on a Saturday, which the location was busy, and it took about 30-40 minutes to get called up to be helped. We were helped by Raul and the first thing I told him was that it was our first time handling a gun. He then walked us over to pick a gun I tried to ask him which gun he recommended but he just ignored me and kept on talking to his coworker. I just picked a Glock and he brought it out for us to try. He had my wife try it first and then told her not to hold the gun the way she was. She asked how and he snatched it out of her hand and quickly demonstrated. He handed it back to her and she tried but he just chastised her and was condescending. I should have walked out there. It was then my turn and he continued to talk down to us. As if we had not already told him that we have never handled a gun. I then asked if someone was inside to help if we had questions. He said no, we could request someone, but he doubted anyone would help (after the way they treated us we would not want their help anyway). He did not show us how to load the clip into the Glock. When we went in, we put the target practice up and my wife loaded the bullets. Not once did someone come in. Luckily there were two guys next to us and one of them knew about guns. Anytime I had a problem he was nice enough to help. I finished shooting and my wife stayed back because she did not like the sound of the guns or shooting the gun. I then gathered the stuff and went out to check out. I handed my gun back and that was quick and easy, but I had to check out at another register. The guy that helped me was nice, but his commentary was not. My debit card was not working so I looked back at my wife and asked her if I should us the credit card or if she wanted to try her debit. She nodded, she just wanted to get out of there. I turned and the guy said, “it doesn’t matter daddy will pay for it.” I looked at him dumbfounded but I was already over their treatment, so I hurried and paid and got out of there. My wife and me are nice people and we try to not make a big deal out of things. I went to this location because of the good reviews but never again. If you are a first timer try to come with someone who knows guns because from the encounters with these guys, they were rude. I will not recommend this location to my family members that wanted to find a gun range. If management does read this, you have to train your employees to not talk down to first timers. If someone says it is their first time, you do not chastise them like they have been shooting...

I was a first time gun owner looking to buy my first firearm. I waited too long and got caught in the mess of all the panic buying during the pandemic. I was specifically looking for a Glock 19 as my first firearm. I looked everywhere from all the way down to the Peninsula, to Petaluma, to Vacaville, to the city we live in which is Vallejo, even at Travis Air Force but nothing. If I did find a place with a Glock 19 they were pricing it anywhere from $589 to $649. Due to the influx of "panic buyers" some owners and employees would take their frustrations out on every customer, even first timers just reaching out.
God bless the people at The Gun Range
Rod was one of many gun shops I contacted about the Glock 19. Like most he did not have that in stock during the time I inquired. But three days later he emailed me back as soon as one became available and let me know that he was going to put in on hold for me, most gun shops won't hold a conversation let alone a firearm. He made every accomdation possible knowing that I lived in Vallejo and made an appointment with one of the salesman to make sure that I would be able to purchase that firearm that day as lines to get into gun stores these days is crazy.
He setup me with Joe to take care of my purchase and that man was just great as well. He was polite, welcoming, knowledgeable and open to all my questions as a first time buyer. There was an issue with my FSC, for some reason my name couldn't go through. Matt overheard what was going on, he stepped in and figured it out in a snap. The place where I took my FSC test at typed my name into the system wrong! Matt was upset for me and Joe was so apologetic about it like he was the one that did, which totally wasn't the case. Small actions like that shows ones great character.
The day I picked up my firearm another salesman helped me out (my apologies as I forgot his name but he's a Caucasian fellow that wears glasses and has a beard). He made the hand off smooth, didn't rush me off the sales floor so they bring in another customer, he even made sure to tell where to store my firearm and ammo in a safe and legal place in the event that I would get pulled over I would be compliant with CA law.
I don't think I'll be shopping anywhere else besides The Gun Range, even if I live Vallejo. I would refer my friends, family or anybody for that matter who is looking to buy a firearm to The Gun Range. As we speak Sam will be taking care of my cousin's first time purchase and he's giving him all the same great treatment and accommodations that I was given. Sam even talked me into getting a Glock 35 haha.
Hands down, The Gun Range is THE PLACE to go to in all of Northern...
Read more5 Star Gun Range!! I have tried a few ranges in the surrounding Sac and Rancho Area.. even a couple in Solano County, and this gun range is by far the best in the area. My son and I visited for the first time on the 4th of July and we had a BLAST!!! (pun intended!)... Great Customer Service... knowledgeable and professional staff.. all of them very welcoming.. and engaging. Safety was number one as soon as we walked in the door which I was immediately impressed with as it was my son's first time at a gun range. After going through all of the formalities, my son and I spent about 1.5 hours shooting.. and even met some friendly folks inside the range in the lanes next to ours.. and we all shared our love for guns and vented about all the California gun laws/restrictions/taxes that we're all being hit with... definitely cathartic and the perfect day to kick off Independence Day! As my son and I wrapped everything up, we engaged with the staff members who gave us a quick boot-camp on all of the Guns they have available and off roster etc.. and then to top that off.. another staff member showed us and let us handle a few of the really cool Halo looking Space Odyssey... Alien movie Storm Trooper stylized guns... oh, and how can I forget.. I shot a friggin Desert Eagle for the first time!! EPIC!!! On our way out the door.. they reminded us of their special event that was being held on 7/6/24.. which was their 12 year anniversary/birthday of the business location. My son wasn't able to make it to the event today, but I made sure I stopped by as promised. Sure enough, they had BBQ out front.. Grill Master hooked me up with a fresh burger and dog.. and then I got hooked up every more when I went inside to chill a bit. They handed out cool freebies (I love free stuff!)... and the energy and vibe inside was superb. To sum it up, this is my new Range and they'll be getting a lot of my and my families business for years to come....
