Warning: Avoid Hanover Tysons at All Costs
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at Hanover Tysons was appalling, and shockingly, the issues persist even after moving out. I lived here for a year before escaping and feel compelled to caution anyone considering this place.
The Good (Barely Worth Mentioning):
Outdoor Spaces: A mediocre grassy area for dogs and a trail behind the building are the only redeeming features. Maintenance Crew: The maintenance team is the lone bright spot, consistently responsive and proactive—unlike management.
The Awful Reality:
Deceptive Marketing and Empty Promises: The initial tour is a well-orchestrated ruse. The polished lobby, modern courtyard, and appealing amenities mask underlying decay. They don’t show you the poor maintenance or the disgraceful resident behavior that turns those once-impressive amenities into a nightmare.
Management Turnover and Gross Incompetence: Initially, the original team (Asia, Haley, Lexi) was competent and courteous. But they all left, likely because they saw the writing on the wall. Their replacements (Tyrone and John) were friendly, but other staff members are downright hostile and dismissive. They’ll say anything to get rid of you, then forget any promises made, leaving you chasing the same problems repeatedly. They also do not respond to any calls.
Alarming Security Issues and Questionable Residents: There was a human trafficking incident in this building, exposed only through a news report. Management? Silent. No warnings, no transparency—just blatant negligence in screening residents. You have no idea who you’re living among, which is terrifying.
Abysmal Communication on Critical Issues:
You’ll be working from home when, without warning, the fire alarm goes off for yet another unannounced drill—this happened over three times in one year. Crimes occur regularly in and around the building, but management never alerts residents. When the power generator failed, we were left in the dark—literally and figuratively—for an entire day before they addressed it. If you work remotely, expect constant disruptions with no consideration from management. Disgusting Conditions and Revolting Community Behavior: Residents are shockingly inconsiderate. Trash rooms are constantly piled with garbage because people can’t be bothered to use the chute, turning the area into a biohazard. Maggots on the floors were a common sight, and despite numerous complaints, management did nothing. Noise is incessant—residents hammer away at 3 AM as if they’re the only ones living here, and management refuses to intervene. Multiple break-ins have occurred in the supposedly “secured” garage, but of course, you’ll only hear about it from residents, never management. Then there’s the dog waste—left everywhere, from sidewalks to the park, you will have to scan for mines.
Rapid Building Decay: The building may be new, but it’s deteriorating quickly due to reckless residents and incompetent management. The walls are paper-thin; you’ll hear every argument, TV show, and late-night conversation your neighbors have, whether you want to or not.
Exorbitant Rent Hikes: Prepare for financial whiplash: my rent for a 1B/1BA spiked from $2,600 to $3,400 after just one year—a staggering 30% increase for a place that isn’t even worth half of it.
Ongoing Nightmares Even After Move-Out: I naively thought my problems would end once I moved out, but I was wrong. The staff assured me they’d forward my packages, yet I haven’t received a single one. They dodge my calls daily. One particularly rude employee, Weston, gave me attitude before I could even explain the issue, promising to call back later that day. It’s been three weeks, and I’m still waiting.
Bottom Line: If you care about living in a clean, safe, and well-managed environment, steer clear of Hanover Tysons. The pervasive filth, abysmal management, nonexistent communication, and absurd rent hikes make this place an absolute disaster. Spare yourself the stress and...
Read moreDon't let the tour fool you. Living here has been a unpleasant experience. you can not use most of social rooms because they are locked after 6 pm and you need to pay for them, for example movie theatre room 99% of the time is broken and you need to pay $750 for using club room even small group of 3, i have lived in rental apartments for the last 10 years and any of those building lock the club room here is the first place you have 0 access to lots of amenities.
Jaelyne in the leasing office was very rude during the application/approval and every single time i had to leasing office for even printing documents i always say good morning, good afternoon and she look up and totally ignores my greetings. If i say thank you she answer with uhuuu…… nobody deserves disrespect and hatred behavior ? i have 2 years in this building paying rent but she just get hired so really don’t understand what make her acting so unprofessional and inappropriate! So after paying all deposits and 1 month of rent i finally moved in 1 week later find out they want me to pay 1 extra month of rent as deposit ! when i asked then why is that they said oh system randomly chooses you and you need to pay or move out, so not only 900$ deposit like most of residents i had to pay extra 1 entire month of rent , but why they never mentioned anything to me in person after so many visits ?and you move in though trash room. They post fake amenities online. I was most excited for the roof clubroom, which isn't real. The one that exists is only available after 6d after paying 750$ . because of showings for potential tenants. So they prioritize future move ins over tenants already paying to live here? And even worse give a new tenant false information! My understanding is misinforming tenants is punished by law but apparently they are doing it with no problem at all. 3.There is a huge noise problem cause of very thin walls 4.tenants are responsible for the fees associated with maintenance in their apartments. Which I have NEVER encountered elsewhere. 5.There's no guest parking and the parking around the building gets quickly taken up by tenants. Cuz parkings are 100$ per months and 50% of good parking are reserved that means you need to pay more to have those spot if not, see if you get lucky to find a parking. 6.The package room lock breaks so you have to wait to get in at times.lots of packages get lost and even they have camera never give you an answer, lots of nonsense answers that you know they Re killing time and don't want to more a finger for benefits of tenants. There's no window screens so hello bugs. They just clean lobby but other hallways and floors are nasty trash sits there per weeks before being picked up 9.during summer hallways temperature are around 78-79 witch is very hot and during winter mostly 68, i personally reported many times and the answer was there is an issue they can not fix it and That management want it so cold in winer and so hot in summer? Why we need to suffer? Paying expensive rent? Again i lived in 3 other buildings and asked friends who lives in other buildings around here and none has such wired unfair rule only in hanover tysons
Me along with a few other reviewers believe that the positive reviews are fake (i.e. the five star reviews that mention management names over and over) and they delete the bad ones. Don't be fooled. Save your money....
Read moreI recently found out I would have to relocate to Virginia from Pennsylvania for work. I had no idea where to start. I searched a lot of places in the area so I could do my due diligence. I probably toured about 7 or 8 different properties and NONE of them compared to this place.
From the first point of contact with Hanover, my experience was amazing. I called the leasing office one day when I was touring other places to see if I could walk in to tour since I didn’t have an appointment. Normally, like my experience with a few other properties in the area, I expected to be turned away and told to make an appointment. To my surprise, the pleasant girl who I spoke with (Asia was her name I believe—-super sweet and helpful) told me I could absolutely walk in for a tour. Once I got there and walked into the lobby it was like walking into a palace. Everything is so nice and luxurious looking. I was greeted by the leasing staff who were all incredibly friendly and energetic. Totally not used to that considering when I showed up for my other tours everyone seemed miserable and made me feel like an inconvenience.
I went on a tour with Bianca who answered every one of my questions on my obnoxious list I was using to narrow down my search. She showed me more apartments than I can count to make sure I found what I was looking for. The apartments were all beautiful and the amenities….I can’t even put into words how nice they all are. If you haven’t figured it out by this point, I didn’t hesitate to choose Hanover Tysons to be my new home. I moved in a few days ago and couldn’t be happier with how everything went. Carly and the leasing staff made me feel like I was cared about and made the move feel stress free. I even got some tips about shopping and restaurants in the area from Betsy (I’ll be broke because of all the options you gave me!) so I have some exploring to do now.
I really need to give another shoutout to all the staff who helped me with this new adventure in my life….Asia, Bianca, Betsy, Carly and Lexie….seriously, thank you all so much...
