TLDR: Would definitely go again. Exceeded my expectations.
The short but sweet, very unique lunch menu had something for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans (maybe Gluten free too but I forget!) The culinary team at Harth makes an explicit effort to source locally and highlights their local farmers/producers on the menu, which I thought was a nice touch of transparency.
The fall squash items (delicata squash, and butternut squash soup) were perfect, and the flatbread was super unique and super delicious- imagine if a pizza crust and a croissant had a baby- that's the dough we're working with on this flatbread. Highly recommend.
The garganelle pasta was excellent- another locally produced item- that was reminiscent of whole wheat pasta, but without that tough texture, topped with a poached egg and eggplant/tomatoes, which the chef recommended mixing all together into a type of sauce I'd never had before and really enjoyed.
Rounding off the meal with the wood-fired cheesecake was a good call even though we were thoroughly full by this point (generous portions) because, again, it was a unique spin on a classic. I'd never had a crustless cheesecake before, and had no idea how you could do it in a wood-fired pizza oven, but alas, they did it! The woodiness of the oven slightly caramelized the top of the cake, then they throw on a strawberry compote of sorts to cut the richness. So good.
If you're over by the Capital One campus, or Tysons in general, I'd say this restaurant is...
Read moreIt was a visually appealing and beautiful restaurant and I had an average meal here although I agree with most of the comments regarding the service and the taste of the food. I really really wanted to like this place because it's an elegant and classy place to unwind at and have drinks, plus I appreciate Chef Tom's efforts with the bacon jam and beehive honey farm on the roof of the hotel, BUT there was nothing really extraordinary about the food. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Pork chop had a nice barbecue sauce but did not have much flavor or juiciness in the meat; rockfish was fresh but the curry lacked spice and flavor; nothing special about the flat breads. The chocolate cupcake was yummy but not something you couldn't buy in a bakery or bake on your own. I don't mind spending money on good food but to be perfectly honest, I prefer Vinifera or Entyse for hotel restaurants. Also, our table's server did not have much of a personality, just part of the routine. It wasn't a bad experience at all; just wish I had spent my Friday dinner where I could've gotten some good food, especially because I was...
Read moreWhen I reserved a table at Harth for 7 people to celebrate Mother’s Day, I imaged we sat by the fireplace and enjoyed a nice meal. Instead, we were brought to a hotel ballroom and sat in a large round table. We were very confused because we went there to celebrate Mother’s Day not to attend a seminar. Many Kids were running around inside the ballroom and some are under the tables. We actually felt like we were in a playground, which is worse than a conference.
Food is way below our expectations. Only two small food stations were in the ballroom, the rest were served in the hotel lobby. Food choice was limited. Eggs Benedict was cold after sitting there for a while and the English muffin got really tough. Salmon fillet is salty and dry. Pork loin is average and nothing was special. The brunch costs $74 per person ($59 asking price + 19% automatic tip + VA tax). There is no beef or shrimp at all and deserts are pure sugar.
We all were very...
