I was reluctant to write a review because this is an extremely difficult time for local businesses. However, in light of COVID, any concerns with COVID precautions should be made known to anyone who goes to Xpose.
SUMMARY: After three trips to Xpose, my takeaways are that I feel (1) unsafe with its COVID precautions, and (2) uncomfortable with the environment.
As a newbie at Xpose, Iām new to the classes and how the studio operates. My first class was sexy chair with the instructor AJ (who was phenomenal). I didnāt know we needed to bring a yoga mat for sexy chair because it was my first time, so the staff kindly loaned me a yoga mat from the studioās inventory of yoga mats located in the bins.
When I came to Xpose for a third visit, I signed up for sexy chair with the instructor Leanna. I forgot to bring a yoga mat so I retrieved the exact same yoga mat from last time because I thought that customary practice was permitted. Shortly after, Leanna reprimanded me in front of everyone. She immediately ran up to me, rolled up the yoga mat, repeatedly and sarcastically said these yoga mats were restricted for employeesā use only, and returned it to the yoga bins.
I. UNSAFE COVID PRACTICES: Leanna (the instructor) did not sanitize the yoga mat after reprimanding me. While Iām completely healthy and have exercised caution throughout the pandemic, she did not exercise that precaution. By returning the unsanitized yoga mat to the bin, she puts her colleagues at risk. Leanna put me at risk by running up to me without maintaining the CDCās recommended 6 feet for social distancing. Afterwards, I politely left before Leannaās class started and spoke to the front desk associate Alex. Alex was very kind and validated that Leanna couldāve approached this respectfully while exercising COVID precautions. Alex kindly forwarded this to Xposeās management. The next day, Claire from management called me.
II. POOR MANAGEMENT: Claire from management stated āIām sorry you didnāt know the policy [that the studioās yoga mats are restricted for employeesā use only]. You crossed the line and there are signs and an actual tape lined out between the instructors and those taking the class. And I guess Leanna crossed a lineā because I communicated my concerns with COVID. I explained that I thought this was customary practice after my first class because I was permitted to use the studioās yoga mat. I thought there was a āline of tapeā because it was to measure 6 feet for the instructorās safety, not to bar people from touching the yoga mats. I also explained that I had no idea what was going on in Leannaās life, especially when this is such a tough time for everyone, but I didnāt appreciate this instructor taking it out on me.
Claire, on behalf of management, responded with (a) āI have no interest in that,ā and (b) āI don't know how else to make you feel comfortable at Xpose.ā
I thanked her for taking the time to call me, and then asked if she could help me get in touch with the owner of Xpose. Claire stated āthe owner is never or I guess rarely is ever around,ā but Iāll be sure to have the owner contact you. When I asked if Claire had my contact information, she immediately said yes and almost hung up, but I asked her if she could read it to me to ensure they had my email too. Interestingly, there was a long pause and she said she āneeded to pull it upā which took ~ 3 minutes.
CONCLUSION: Overall, this was an unfortunate experience because my concerns with COVID and the studioās management of this instructorās poor actions were brushed under the rug. I expected bruising and soreness from the classes, but not poor management or bad COVID precautions.
Please be cautious if you decide to take a class at Xpose because you are risking your health, safety, and positive vibes. This unfortunate experience taught me not to trust Xpose to respect my health, my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnita Ammon- Executive Director of Xpose Fitness took my money and could have cared less. Got injured in my first class, a major flair up from a previous wrist surgery. Paid $102 for a 8 class package plus shoes. Repeatedly called to speak with her about refunding the portion of my package that I couldn't use. Left my name and number twice. She clearly refused to call and could have cared less. I had no choice but to file a dispute with Bank of America. She very quickly responded to them saying I didn't return the shoes or try to attempt to contact them within 30 days. She never even bothered to call me back within the "time frame" because she never even goes into the Arundel Mill studio!! Bank of America told me to return the shoes, which I did to the other location in order to continue the dispute, to no avail. This is a horrible run business because the Arundel Mills studio went out of business in the meantime, and B of A sided with them because even they couldn't get my money back. Unbelievable. She should be ashamed to be doing business in this manner. What goes around comes around. Her ways of doing business will not bode well for the actual owners of this studio- they should find someone new. Business run like this will not survive. I'm appalled that I had to pay back $102 to Bank of America because of Anita Ammon. To make matters worse, I am an employee of Bank of America and they still couldn't do anything to help me. If you are looking to start pole dancing- beware they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter attending classes 3-5 days a week for 3+ months, I already knew I loved the studio, the instructors, the level of professionalism, cleanliness, community, the list goes on and on.
However, I didnāt realize how absolutely amazing the studio was until I was traveling, tried another studio to keep up with my progress, and had a very not good experience at the other studios. I was able to then see, in comparison, how wrong I was. Xpose isnāt amazing, itās PHENOMENAL.
The instructors are insanely educated & teach/cue/assist so well. I owe Melissa a bouquet of flowers for how much I have undermined how great of a teacher she is. I just thought this was standard practice because all of the instructors are so great. I didnāt know the level I was receiving was above and beyond what other studios had to offer.
The time and care that Jillian takes to offer not only a safe and clean environment but a place in which you will learn and progress so fluidlyā¦is beyond admirable.
You can tell how much love is given to this space and Iām happy to have found it & to be...
