Great park. They have a fountain in the summer that children can play in. It changes colors & you can smell that it is chemically treated. A giant Christmas tree goes on top of it during the winter. You probably won't find any dog poo around. People are very good about cleaning up after their dogs here. It is a clean park to be appreciated. There are doggie bag stations & trashcans all over the place. There are bathrooms next to the concession stand at the top of the hill, they're pretty clean for park bathrooms. At the end of the trail next to the police station there is a gazebo with a rose garden. There are 3 different lots for parking. To the right of the fountain there is a children's playground. They close the gate when it gets dark. The floor is fully padded & the playground is fenced in. There are swings, teeter totters, merry go rounds, slides, bridges, & lots of high areas to climb on that have safety borders. I would recommend checking if there are any events going on during the day you plan on visiting here, because it can get extremely crowded & loud on those days. Otherwise it's not crowded & it's a...
Read moreAmazing place for families of all kinds to come and spend some time outdoors. A big state of the art playground, a fountain with multiple water features for kids to play in, paths for walking, biking, skating, fields for picnics and relaxing, amphitheater for proformaces, movies, music, concession stand and clean public bathrooms. There's even a path through landscaped trees and bushes that was the original park where I've seen elaborate proposals take place. It's located right in downtown Cookeville so it's easy to access and directly behind the library. They have many activities throughout the year including right now with Park after Dark where they play family movies for free every Friday in June and sell concessions. So it's one of the best parks in Cookeville but unlike the other great one, Cane Creek, this one is right downtown and walking distance to everything Cookeville has to offer including the history museum, historic train depot and museum and historic Cream City ice cream shop. It's even just a block away from the Rails and Trials bike and walking path that runs beside the train tracks from...
Read moreKids always have a great time at the Splash Pad during the day but on fridays they play a free movie on a giant blow up projection screen. It took a little longer than expected for the sun to go down but it seemed as though everyone was enjoying themselves just being there as a family. As expected, not all the little one's can contain themselves and it's a bit noisy during the movie but they found a solution and that's an incredibly loud, high quality speaker system so you can pretty much zone them out. We had a great time. Dont forget bug spray, although they weren't bad at all during our visit. Highly recommended place to visit for some much needed...
