Very close to the worst dining experience I've ever had. Had a minor complaint about a food item that was made incorrectly and instead of addressing the problem our server (using that term very loosly) Ashton blew up at us and started clearing our table while we were eating. She claimed that the manager would not come speak with us. Went from a decent experience to absolutely awful in just minutes. No one would come to our table until we got up to leave when another server who was waiting at the bar confronted us for trying to walk out without paying. I politely asked for a manager again, she then claimed she was a manager. When asked why she didn't come over earlier she had nothing but excuses. I paid for our drinks and appetizers which were good, however I refused to pay for food which was incorrectly made as well as was removed from our table while we were still trying eating. In short, if you want to have a nice night out ruined by incompetent and insane wait staff come here they can do that in spades.
Edit: Wow you sir clearly have no idea what happened other than a one-sided story fed to you by your incompetent staff. Asking for a manager is making a mountain out of a mole hill!? Let me spell it out, a Reuben was ordered with the dressing on the side, what came out was a Reuben without sauerkraut. When this was politely pointed out the server grabbed the plate off the table and stormed off. She returned a couple of minutes with a tiny amount of ICE COLD sourkraut slapped on the sandwich. This was after an up-to-this-point fairly mediocre experience. The server was less than friendly from the very beginning and turned outright rude after a small request was made. As far as "walking out on our tab" that is not what happened. We were refused any further service, including anyone bringing a check until we stood up. We waited for nearly 30 minutes before we gave up on anyone even coming back to our table.
What was stated about not paying was one person at the table said they weren't going to pay for their incorrectly made food. They were not speaking about the entire table or anyone else's meal yet the entire table's meals were attempted to be cleared, forks in hand. Finishing our meal was not an option at this point, we paid for the part of the meal that was correct and enjoyable. But if your waitstaff had any clue about customer service they would have asked questions and maybe tried to resolve the issue without being rude, beligerant, and irrate.
If you would like to hear my side of the situation let me know and I'll...
Read moreThe most amazing dining experience yet in Cookeville. Seven Senses has been on my try list for a year and a half! I'm so happy I finally made it. Ok here we go: Every single bite of food was an amazing experience. I went with two girlfriends and we all ate the exact same thing. I pointed out the lowcountry bowl and we all had to try it! The bowl base is grits. I went in with an open mind about the grits. These are not your grandmas plain ol butter grits. These are skillfully prepared and seasoned. They are cheesy and buttery and shined very brightly in the bowl. I would go back just to eat these grits! The grits are topped with a creole sauce, lump crab, grilled shrimp, a fried green tomato and roasted kernels of corn. I'm rarely at a loss for words about how something tastes but I am struggling to describe it as anything other than a symphony of deliciousness. Hands down in the top 10 dishes I've ever eaten. All three of us loved loved loved it. We started with the spinach dip appetizer. The chips are thin, crispy and just the right amount of salty. The spinach dip was creamy and wonderful and the jalapeño sprinkled on top added a nice pop of zip! We finished every single bite! Ambiance was a small bustling bistro. Full of happy chatter and happy eaters. I loved it. The service: Our server was Kendall. She was hustling the whole evening but with a calm and confident demeanor. She was a professional and took care of us with perfection. Just the right amount of attention. We never had to look for her nor were we overly interrupted by her. She was a 5 star server. Seven Senses is worth every single penny. The five stars is for everything. I rarely eat anything other than vegetarian and I'm so glad this was my splurge meal! Side note: This restaurant does offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten free menus. My only problem with this is that when you take a closer look at the vegan and vegetarian menus they are just some of the same menu items minus meat. There's no substitutions and there's no creative options that are solely vegan or vegetarian. I call these the minus menus. Grateful to have them but always wishing for some of the creativity to spread to the special menus too. I will go back to this restaurant a...
Read moreCruising through the various Google reviews for Cookeville, I was initially disappointed that most of the restaurants that had 4+ stars were national chains. That's usually not a good sign. But we found this local place with good reviews, and decided to give it a try.
We arrived around 6:00 on a Friday night (but we were hungry with our stomachs still on Eastern time). We were seated quickly. The restaurant filled up quickly. The interior of this place is brick walls with a bar, tables and high-tops. It is in quaint downtown Cookeville with several local restaurants nearby.
The menu was straight-forward with plenty of solid choices at different price points. You can order a burger or wrap, or a pork chop or filet. The bar menu featured a number of drinks, and we arrived with just in time to get our first drink and our appetizer at Happy Hour prices (2-6).
Our server (April B) was attentive and efficient. She told us about several local beer options, and made recommendations. We ordered spinach dip (uncomplicated and tasty), a filet - $27 (cooked perfectly to temperature, and served with mounds of potato mash and green beans), and "chicken mac" $13 (macaroni and cheese topped with grilled chicken).
The food was uncomplicated, but prepared quickly and served expertly. Appetizer, two entrees, two beers and a soda were $57. We're usedto Atlanta prices, so these seemed inexpensive. We were happy with the experience and will likely come back the next time we find ourselves nearby. If you're in town, you should...
