A little surprised with the library stock. If you're looking for comic books, then half of the back wall is for you. If you're looking for military history, then I'm afraid I have bad news. I've never seen a smaller selection in any library, and I've been to plenty of them in smaller towns. It's not even 2 whole shelves of content. Included is a photo which shows the military section starting on the top shelf with "Gay Warriors" and ending on the 3rd shelf with "Captive" (I think, I didn't look at that one). Pretty sad for as patriotic as Cookeville portrays itself.

Putnam County Library at 50 E Broad Street, Cookeville, Tennessee. Easy access with offstreet parking behind the library next to Dogwood Park. Staff is very helpful. Great place to visit ! plenty of books, DVDs and games to choose from. Sitting areas throughout. Calendar of events posted in the foyer and on the front marquee. Check their website for details on requirements to obtain a library card.

I want to say that I actually love the library. It’s a fun activity to do with my kids. I don’t usually have issues with the library. Recently I went to the library and learned I have a fee. Now I got said fee in March, it’s not June so I haven’t been in a while. In March I had a baby on 3/13 & my due date for the books was 3/14. Now I obviously wasn’t going to make that. So I decided to renew said books on their website. I checked out a good 20 books at that time but only 3 were marked late, no I didn’t not return all the books at once. I’ve never even had a late fee before this. They would not budge on waiving the fee. So because their website works sometimes, they don’t keep records of the books you checked out “because of 9/11”, which I feel should be stated in the fine print on the site at least when you sign up for a card, then they direct you to a board of trustees after the manager (idk her title in the library world), basically brushed me off with saying it’s my responsibility, which sure it is, but the system not doing its job it not. So now I have to pay a fee I don’t feel I should because their system sucks 😂😂😂😂 They won’t work with you no matter how small the fee, it’s not the amount it’s the principle & the fact that they genuinely do not care about what you have going on, or that you actually did try to renew the books to avoid any fees, but their...

Kids area isn’t very kid friendly. They’ve got rid of all the puzzles, the computers with the games on them, blocks, etc. They now only have a handful of legos. The past two times I’ve went my children have upset the people at the desk. The first time I was reading to my 1 and 2 year old they took off their crocs as I was reading and the worker got up from her desk and told me my kids needed to put their shoes back on. We were the only people in there.. my bad. A lot of one and two year olds don’t even wear shoes but whatever. Next time I went I was reading to 3 of my kids and my 1 year old was standing at the handful of legos and starting putting them in the floor.. of course I was going to go pick them up after I was done reading but the worker got up from his desk and told him to stop .. he didn’t know what he was saying he’s 1 but I stopped reading and just told the kids let’s go and picked them up before we left. The library is clearly not a place...
