I used to love 37 Cedar for the food, but I’ve had a couple bad experiences. I think I was roofied one evening, and my most recent experience was very bad service by the owner. In a crowded bar, I understand and wait patiently to be served. When approached by ithe only female bartender, I offered the two people near me to be served first because I knew they had been waiting before I walked up. Then the owner walks up to help out. Without asking who’s next, he immediately offers to serve a group of three people who had just walked up. I tried to tell them I had been waiting, but they said nothing, and the owner got angry with me for even suggesting that I said something.and told me to wait my turn. Sadly, I was with three other people, And then the owner refused to serve me because I had the nerve to suggest that I had been waiting for 15 minutes. All four of us walked out, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I’m friendly and I’m female,, but when an owner who’s working the bar acts like a boy in high school, I see no reason to return. i’m sure the bar/restaurant is doing great, but I’m more confident in myself and my ability to earn more than he does. I’ll take my money and friends elsewhere.
Responding to the owner’s response to my review: Not once have I ever threatened to sue your business…Complete lie fabricated to make me look bad. Yes I do hold an executive level position, but it really disgusts me when a local business owner is simply prejudiced. Yes I’m white, I’m a woman, and I’m confident. And yet, that evening, I was probably the most humble respectful woman in the bar because I waited my turn, I waited for others before me to be served. For whatever reason, unknown to me, you’re trying to justify your actions, but it’s pretty clear your service simply didn’t exist. And yes, I had another prior incident at your location, and I should’ve called the police because I know damn well someone roofied me in your establishment. I barely remember what happened and woke up with so many bruises and complete blackout after being put in a cab. Not once in my life has that ever happened to me, and I’m sorry, you can discredit me all you want to, but I will never ever go back to your establishment and I have plenty of options and have never had issues anywhere...
Read moreBeen here many times ordered a hamburger it was raw asked for it to be medium. Well they sent it back to the kitchen. We expected to get a new burger. They put the burger with one bite out of it back on the grill and re-cooked it as far as I know you replace the hamburger with a fresh hamburger. The very inattentive bartender told us they recook all the burgers and the manger would do that also. I wonder if the owner is aware which would be the next step. So anyone that sends a burger back beware it will be recooked and not replaced. They did refund our money except for the beer we drink, which was acceptable, however I thought that their bartender tending bar that day was also very rude and in attentive . The fact that they re-cooked the hamburger when I was expecting a fresh burger to replace it that was cooked correctly did not occur. This is the only timeI have been disappointed, all the other times I have a good a great meal. Overview In general, the Tennessee Department of Health does not permit the re-cooking of a half-eaten burger at a restaurant. Food safety regulations prioritize preventing foodborne illnesses, and re-using food that has been exposed to saliva and potentially contaminated utensils raises significant concerns. Here's why: Cross-Contamination: Re-serving food that has been touched by a customer introduces the risk of transferring bacteria from the customer's mouth to other diners. Temperature Control: Once food has been exposed, it's difficult to ensure it's kept at the correct temperature to prevent bacterial growth. Legal Liability: Restaurants could face legal consequences if they serve food that has been re-used, especially if it causes illness. Instead of re-cooking, restaurants should discard any food that has been partially eaten. They can then offer a fresh, new burger to...
Read moreThose are literally the 3 best things I can tell you about 37 Cedar. I came in with such high hopes, what I received was the most egregiously overpriced chicken and pasta dish I have ever had the misfortune of ordering. Now, here's where it gets fun.... the food actually didn't taste half bad. The pasta was a simple rigatoni with one diced up chicken breast served in a curry sauce with tomatoes, carrots, and shallots. That's just it though, it was simple; nowhere near the worth of $17, which is what the price was. That's when I really started to look over their menu, and read other reviews about this place. Monday through Friday, for 3 hours, their no frills burger can be purchased for $5 instead of $8...same with a basic cheese dip that's made to sound awesome by calling it Whiskey Fondue (it has a splash of Jack Daniel's in it, yay 🙄). They serve their regular menu for a weekly total of 46 hours (Mon-Fri). When you can offer your burger and/or cheese dip for $3 less than normal menu price for 15 out of 46 hours (33% of the time), then it doesn't take elementary school math to realize that your menu is waaaaay overpriced. 37 Cedar is, at best, the unfortunate love child you get when someone who thinks expensive equals high-end....meets someone who has no concept of cost vs.value. At worst, it is a waste of the prime real estate space it occupies. Either way, there are much better dining options across the street, or around the...
