As RVers we get to sample lots of different restaurants outside of our home area. Since we live in Texas and had many bad Mexican food experiences we made a rule. "We don't eat Mexican food outside of Texas". Well this place was highly recommended and within walking distance of the RV park next door. We said ok DWI not possible so let's go have a margarita. A highly recommended margarita yet with a warning. Only have ONE. So off we go. The entrance door is in the back as is the parking lot. Odd but understandable. The place was very clean and well decorated like a hunting lodge. Several wild animals even a couple of bears. We were served immediately, great chips and salsa we even reordered. We ordered the margaritas. After a couple of sips that tasted great my ole my boom! I jumped to the water and looked forward to an awesome night. My wife and I shared combination fajitas for one and could not eat it all. It was full of beef, chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and some pepper probably Poblano. It was cooked to perfection. What a great dish!!! We had some of the best in house flour tortillas ever. Then to top it off we ordered the hot sopapillas served with honey. The order is 3. We fought over the last one. Lol. Everything was really great. Service, food, cleanliness and even the price. We will return on our next trip through Cortez. If you are there make sure you try it and don't forget have a designated driver or stay nearby and...
Read moreChilies in crunchy Rellenos should be roasted or fried, not raw! Instead it was stuffed with string cheese and buried under some chopped up lettuce and tomato garnish.
Chicken Enchilada Suiza had canned saddle portion chicken, mechanically processed and extremely salty!
The creamy sauce - made usually with Swiss cheese - hence the name - or with at least la crema that this Enchilada dish should have had -including some of the melted cheese on top - so maybe servers knew what it is they are serving - was absent. Instead what should have been at least a good try at the sauce - was given some unstirred sour cream from the container. The rice was lukewarm. OMG!!! (I certainly will go to the Health Dept should I become ill) The rice was topped with some extremely overcooked, inedible canned vegetable medley that were wrinkled! I hadn't eaten since 6am, was hungry and did not have the energy to shop - so I forced down as much as was humanly possible. Was hoping this restaurant had gotten better, I had to pay full price (25.00 plus a meager tip) for the whole freaking mess, btw - Everything was disgusting! Including the mojito. People who handle food in a restaurant, etc al...should be expected to understand how to handle foods! I learned this at...
Read moreThis was my first time here. The prices are between $9-$18 for entrees. The food did taste great, but it wasn't what I expected. The rice portion was smaller than other restaurants I've gone to. I ordered a burrito and enchilada combo. There was no difference between the burrito and enchilada. Even the server thought it was just enchiladas. The rice is Spanish rice not Mexican. The enchilada sauce was not spicy at all. The flour tortilla looked like the ones I buy at Walmart. Not a bad thing just an observation I made. All burritos just had meat in it and the same red sauce used for enchiladas. We are a family of 7 and was expecting to pay around $90+tip, but the total came out to $103 and that was literally all the money I had. The drinks alone came out to $25. That's an average of over $3 per drink. They don't have drinks on their menu, so I don't know what the price actually was for each. The food was delicious, but it wasn't what we were expecting. Staff was friendly. They only came by to take our orders and pick up plates. Had to ask for the check and they didn't offer...
