Great facility. Popular off leash dog park on east side of Cortez on south side of Hwy 0cemete. A couple of trees and grassy lawn and mulched area with native shrubs in rear provide ample space for dogs to run and play. Water bowls replenished. Dog waste bags provided. Always have had pleasant experience with fellow dog owners and their doDennyu Lake Park provides additional walking option along a shoreline trail that loops around lake and marshs - dogs must be leashed upon exiting fenced dog park and entering Deny Lake Park areas, incl., on rail. (Denny Lake Park-is relatively small, but has a ew picnic shelters with charcoal grills, a kids playground, restrooms, ample parking, more mature trees. Lake is a popular fishing spot. Many shorebirds on the lake and in the marsh seas). Great views of the La Plata mountains and Mesa Verde are a bonus. Read morePark has a couple of sections of fenced dog areas. WITH trails in all of them so your dog has plenty of area to roam and sniff. The park had lots of balls there to play with and the occasional yucky furry toy maybe you didn't want your dog to play with. But of course found it right of the bat. We had a great experience with some older dogs there. It was not crazy at all. We are traveling so it was perfect to get some pent up energy out. I DID see that they had a portable potty there, however, I don't know how clean it was. We visited the end of October the brush was dieing and no grass but the fact that I could walk a d get some exercise while my dog ran around was high...

Rest of park is walking trails, majority layered with wood chips, set amongst sage bushes. Weeds are growing but not too bad. Obvious effort has been made to keep weeds to minimum.
