Looking for a hotel in the heart of Costa Mesa, California? You definitely have to check out Avenue of the arts by @Marriott Hotels. From the gorgeous, delightfully scented lobby, to the lake view rooms, you won’t be disappointed with your stay at this hotel. The spacious suites are equipped with walk-in showers as well as many other standard amenities. They all have balconies or patios, and many overlook the lake area. The lake area is filled with wildlife, like ducks and turtles and fish, with plenty of seating areas to enjoy the scenery. Take a stroll on the path that surrounds the lake to relax on one of the many mezzanines and take it all in. Grab a bite to eat at the Silver Trumpet - the on-site restaurant and bar, or take a short walk over to South Coast Plaza, a premier shopping center in Orange County. Make sure to bring your swimsuit as there is a heated pool on site as well. Have you ever stayed at this property? How does it sound? There were a lot of problems with the rooms. The in room phones speed dial buttons were not working and the different extension numbers were not listed so we had to just keep calling the front desk for everything. The refrigerator was not cold, the bed sheets smelled faintly of urine...

For some reason, the air conditioner wasn't on but the room was extremely cold? And when we opened our window to let out the cold air and took a nap, we woke up to the smell of marijuana. We reported it to the front desk and they said unless they catch someone in the act there's not much they can do except come and spray something in our room to make it smell better, but spraying more harmful chemicals doesn't erase the harmful poison already in the air...

Also, the guy at the front desk was not clear about our package benefits. He said we would have access to the Costa Mesa access lounge. I asked if I could use the passes he gave us whenever, even after our stay, and he said yeah, and if we use it and want more just come to the front desk and ask. We used the ones he gave us but wanted to go again the day we checked out so we asked for another one on our way out to be told quite rudely no;; it was only for the duration of the stay. Like what? That's so confusing. So if we had asked the day before for another one, since it's "during the stay" he would have given it to us then? There was no apology for the miscommunication either, so unprofessional...

Also, we ordered room service for an 8 dollar dessert. I asked over the phone how much the total price would be and the guy said 11 dollars, 8 for the food and 3 for delivery. Also, I asked if tip was mandatory and the guy said no.

Then on checkout day, suddenly I have a charge for 17 something dollars. When asked why, the guy at the front desk said our order was 11 dollars plus 5 dollar room service fee and 18 percent mandatory tip. I argued that that was not what we were told and had we known, we wouldn't have ordered. Instead of him checking on the prices to confirm what I had said, he had me go back to my room on the 4th floor and get the menu with the item we ordered clearly saying 8 dollars next to it. Not only that, but there was no apology given for their mistake!!! Just a "Okay I'll take the 3 dollars off". Um...hello..? We were just about to be ripped off! The least that could be done is an apology given.

During breakfast that morning, service was incredibly slow even though there were barely any people. We had a hard time finding servers because I think they were all in the back. I ordered a belgium waffle but when I tried to eat if I discovered a bug crawling around on one of the blackberried on top. I told the staff about it and they said they would remake it but by then I had already lost my appetite.

There was no compensation mentioned about this either besides remaking it, even though due to this bug and the extremely slow service, we were getting close to our check out time and I still hadn't eaten anything, so I asked if I was going to be charged for the waffle (if i was I was planning on just canceling) and a waitress THEN said she would take it off. But we had vouchers for free breakfast that we paid for, and if she takes it off then I should get my voucher back right? I tried to explain this but the waitress didn't understand and said she would just not charge us for the meal (our total charge for the meal minus the vouchers was 4 dollars compared to by 13 dollar voucher). I was just done by then and figured even if we ordered something else, the freshness wouldn't be guarenteed, but I do feel robbed of a benefit we had to pay to have in our hotel stay package.

The water that was served to us had a bunch of small white greasy circles floating around the top, it was quite disgusting and shocking.

The jacuzzi was quite small, dirty, and unmaintained with hair and dirty particles, leaves rocks swimming bugs etc in it. When asked if it could be cleaned, we were told the pool would filter itself but..it didn't. The jets that were turned on just...

Whenever I visit my daughter at UC Irvine I always look forward to my stays at the Avenue of The Arts Costa Mesa. My daughter is now in her Junior year at UCI so I have been fortunate to appreciate this experience for several years and during the difficult times of COVID.

Avenue of The Arts Costa Mesa is a tucked away secret gem of peaceful solitude in the busy shuffle of life part of the area around Costa Mesa/Irvine. Its inner garden and park like setting exudes the vibe of a safe, tranquil residential community where people walk their dogs, sit on benches watching the ducks and turtles or visit with friends on the patio under the festive lights of the nearby restaurant.

Aside from the uniquely serene setting of the Avenue of The Arts Costa Mesa, the employees are the heartbeat of this organization who set the bar for its consistently elevated level of service.

The employees at all levels of the organization are shining stars of excellence in service from the Front Desk, to Housekeeping, to Management, to Maintenance. I’m always impressed with the level genuine kindness, helpfulness, and happiness that is uniquely part of the culture at the Avenue of The Arts Costa Mesa.

Corporate culture is not something that happens on its own, it is created. At the Avenue of The Arts Costa Mesa, the management team has successfully cultivated a healthy culture of happy employees who have pride in delivering an extremely high level of service with grace, sophistication and positivity. From the moment you step through the doors, you can sense that this is a high functioning, customer oriented organization the runs seamlessly.

The rooms are beautifully appointed, cleaned and maintained to perfection and impart a sense of fresh, happy vacation to their guests. Every aspect of guest comfort is looked after from provided slippers in organza pouches, fluffy white towels that always seem brand new to amazing quality sheets and bedding…all divine elevating one’s experience.

Upon arrival I always have a sigh of relief because I know the lovely experience that awaits me and, when leaving, I always look forward to my next visit. I know that when I look back with happiness on my daughter’s time attending UCI, that I will also look back with happiness of my wonderful stays at the Avenue of The...

I dont like writing negative reviews unless something happens so unacceptable, It leaves me no other choice to warn others so they dont fall victim to the shady business practices of this hotel.

For starters they charge $37 every day you stay here just for parking. I can live with that and is pretty standard I guess. So as I was going in and out of the lot, it kept saying different dollar amounts totaling wayyyy over $100 for parking. So I go in and confront front desk to make sure im getting charged the $37/daily fee only. So the gentlemen confirms, yes you have only been charged the daily rate of $37. awesome. my concerns remedied. THEN he proceeds to say, it does say here you were charged a $60 deep cleaning fee. Say what? Keep in mind I checked in just a couple hours prior to the dialogue. Not to mention nobody has been in my room to even make an accusation. So he says his best guess is they charged me for having a pet. I beg your pardon? First of all, I do not have a pet. And if they thought I did, how could they not possibly confront me to tell me "hey we are gonna charge you a $60 deep cleaning fee for your pet, which would of gave me the oportunity, to explain, I do not have a pet. what made you think this, and why wouldn't you simply ask me? For the record, I have stayed here with a pet numerous times in the past with zero issues. Probably because I leave the room in better condition I received it in, because that's just how I get down.

To top it off, one of my associates that was also a guest, actually walked his huge German Shepard into the lobby, checked in with no issues, and did not get charged this fee.

dissappointing because I actually liked the front desk crew and we had some cool convos and I even tipped him very well for helping me to my room.

This business practice is so WRONG, and they just lost a loyal customer.

DO NOT STAY HERE. COMPLETE SCAM AND JUST OUT FOR YOUR MONEY.

Several other things to complain about as well, like the ice machine was broken, and more

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. Period. No mini fridge. No ice maker. And worst part, their WiFi is slow, it basically doesn't work. Even the front desk admitted that it does not work. EXCUSE ME?...
