Honestly, I wanted to like this place. I had more of a 2.5 star experience. I get my nails done very sporadically so I haven't found "my" nail salon in OC yet since moving here, and I needed my nails done for a photo shoot. This place has good reviews and affordable prices, so off I went.
First, I made an appointment online for a gel mani and reg pedi, which sent me text reminders. When I got in, no one acknowledged that there was any kind of appointment system. I got sent to a chair right away, so no harm there. Immediately once I'm in the chair I'm getting hounded for "upcharges" - they handed me a menu and just flipped it over to the back with their "packages" which are of course, more expensive than the simple gel mani + reg pedi price. I kept saying what I wanted and I didn't want upcharges, but they insisted. Ok, sure. The lady next to me also got the same treatment, but was much more firm and got what she wanted after a LOT of back and forth.
The lady doing my mani was wonderful. I picked a color that was realllly shear and she suggested making some adjustments to make it look better and she made the right call! It also lasted longer than most gel manis I get. So she gets the stars.
My pedi was lackluster. Neatened up the nails ok but the polish job was not good. No time to dry in between coats, so everything got all smudged around and messy/cracked. I seriously considered re-doing them myself once I got home, and I'm not great at polish. I suspect a lot of this is because a few walk-ins came in while I was in the middle of my services, so the lady doing my pedi was rushing to get to the people who were waiting.
Finally I'm done and its time to pay. There's a couple signs that say "cash only" - but I only brought enough cash for the services I booked for, not all these upcharges. When I mention this, magically a card reader appears, for a $1 charge (standard - I'm ok with that). If you're going to push people to get extra services - don't insist on cash only! Many people don't carry tons of cash, myself included.
The cherry on top is that now I get text alerts for sales and coupons, with no way to opt out. This is what prompted me to send a review. I don't plan on going to The Best Nails & Spa again, even with their lower prices. I'd rather just pay a little more up front and get a less frustrating experience....
Read moreI recently had another amazing experience at The Best Nails & Spa. The service provided by Stacy and her staff is truly superb. Stacy, in particular, goes above and beyond to ensure that I am taken care of and satisfied with my experience. She even spoils my kids whenever they accompany me, which is a wonderful touch.
As someone who used to work as a manicurist and is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my nails, I appreciate Stacy's patience and attention to detail. She always puts my needs first and if there's a specific design I want that she can't do herself, she arranges for someone else to take care of it for me.
What sets The Best Nails & Spa apart is the warm and inclusive atmosphere created by Stacy. She makes everyone feel loved and included, and I've observed this with other customers as well. In fact, she affectionately calls me her good luck charm, which always brings a smile to my face.
During my last visit, Stacy was unavailable, so Tammy took care of me. To my surprise, I had never noticed that Tammy had been working there all this time, since I usually go to Stacy. However, she did an excellent job and left me completely satisfied. When it comes to my pedicure, Amy seems to be the go-to person, and I have no complaints about her work either.
One piece of advice I would offer is to call and book an appointment before visiting The Best Nails & Spa. They truly value their appointments and will even wait for you if you're running late. However, if you show up as a walk-in and the salon is busy, you may have to wait for a little while. So, it's always best to plan ahead and secure your spot.
I want to extend my gratitude to Stacy and her entire staff for consistently taking care of me and providing such exceptional service. The Best Nails & Spa is truly deserving of its name, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of nail and...
Read moreI only get my nails done for special occasians. I wanted a gel manicure for an engagement photoshoot to show off my ring. I walked in and asked for the Goddess manicure so I can pamper myself a little after a long day of work. I was assigned to Tammy. I hate leaving bad reviews so it took me 2 weeks of contemplating but...
Tammy over trimmed my cuticles. She kept going on and on, way longer than necessary. Then my middle finger started bleeding. She wiped it with the cuticle softener towel. It stung. Tammy started face calling a guy (her husband? son?) while doing my nails. She already made me bleed once so this made me nervous. Also unprofessional. She made a weird rounded shape. She also over trimmed my nails, she likes to cut deep into the edges. She trimmed too much on my pinky and my pink started bleeding. She had to put ointment on it. After all of that, they never understood what I wanted and gave me a regular gel manicure instead of the Goddess package with gel add on.
Even though she was so unprofessional and made me bleed twice, I smiled and told her I'm fine. I'm too polite to cause a scene. Even after walking out, I told myself it's fine. Then the next day, my 2 fingers that bled hurt SO much and continued to hurt for a few days until the skin grew back. Then 1 week later, my manicure chipped off. I felt like crying and felt stupid that I paid for this to happen to me. The only other place I've ever gotten my nails done at was 3 Thirty 3 next to UCI and their opi gel mani lasted 6 weeks on me.
Tammy over trimming cuticles & nails is a problem, but the bigger problem is video calling during a manicure and not offerring anything to make it right when she made so many mistakes...
