Cute little two story boutique hotel/Inn located in the heart of Cottonwood. The courtyard has benches, tables and chairs and nice greenery. We stayed here during Christmas time. The lady at the front desk was very nice and pleasant. There is plenty of free street parking and also parking behind the property. There are several restaurants, antique shops, and wine tasting rooms all within walking distance.
We had two rooms - 1 with 2 queen beds and 1 with 2 twin beds. The room with queen beds was nice and clean. The bathroom and walk-in shower (no shower door) were very clean and updated. There was a microwave and fridge and two complimentary water bottles. No closet but a little nook for hanging a couple small items. The decor is modern - something you would find from the online retailer Wayfair or Overstock.com.
The room with twin beds was located on the 2nd floor. It was quite interesting as I'd never experienced a hotel room with twin beds before. It reminded me of a nuns' sleeping quarters - but in a good way.
There is no elevator to the 2nd floor. The stair case was very narrow so keep that in mind. Two adults cannot descend and ascend the staircase at the same time. If someone is heavy / large, they may have a challenging time navigating the stairs with luggage (yes, it's just that narrow). I'm 5'3", 125 lbs and I felt a bit claustrophobic.
The room was very small but clean and updated. The walk-in shower was tiled nicely (no shower door). Toiletries were provided. The towels were very clean and spa-like. There was a microwave & fridge and bottles of water. The sink was located in the "kitchen" area, which was a little odd since you have to exit the toilet and walk through the room to the "kitchen" to wash your hands. There's also a small rod in the "kitchen" for hanging clothes. There was no phone in my room. Not a big deal since we all use cell phones now anyway. There was a nice TV on the wall, ceiling fan, and an in-window heating and cooling system which you can operate with a remote. There were two tiny windows over the beds with paper shades. My room looked right onto the courtyard.
There is no coffee maker in the rooms. However, there is a complementary refreshment room on the main floor near the office that has an ice machine and hot beverages. There's a machine that dispenses Starbucks coffee, hot cocoa, and hot water for tea. There are also books and a few menus to local restaurants.
There's also a small business center located on the property if you need it.
The Red Rooster Café restaurant is down the street and offers a 20% discount if you mention you stayed at the Iron Horse Inn. Great family owned restaurant with good food. The Tavern Grill is also a family owned restaurant with amazing food as well. We did not visit any of the wine tasting room but heard they are all nice too.
Overall, this was a nice place for an overnight stay and the rate was very reasonable! I highly recommend the...
Read moreHORRIBLE!!! My friend and I checked in for our first visit at the Ironhorse Inn on 7/21/24 for one night. Shortly after checking in and being in our room, the solid wood bathroom barn door (that was extremely heavy) came crashing down. It fell on to the nightstand shattering the glass lamp. Luckily for us, we were not sitting on the bed, otherwise one of us could have been severely injured! This was very shocking and frightening, and we were both shaken up! When I called the employee at the front desk, she came up to the room. The solid wood barn door landed in front of our door, so our room door was partially blocked. When the employee came to the door, she immediately yelled “I can’t get in”! Our first encounter with her was extremely hostile, she was clearly annoyed by the situation! She never once asked if we were okay! Her rude and hostile attitude was SHOCKING and therefore, we got a little upset by how she was reacting to a very scary situation! She was acting like this was somehow OUR FAULT! In a very rude manner, she said “there’s nothing I can do, I am by myself”. She then offered to change our room, and my friend asked if they can just sweep up the glass and change the sheets, and she said she couldn’t because she didn’t have anyone to help her. We then agreed to change rooms. To our shock, we were then told to leave the premises immediately or the police will be called! Seriously? The police! Yes, we were both upset, but we were never disrespectful to the employee. Therefore, we had no choice to leave and find another hotel that was twice the price as our room at the Ironhorse. She didn’t care whatsoever about our safety. Why would you rent a room with a broken solid wood heavy door? That was a major safety hazard and could of cause severe injuries! You need to train your employees how to handle a crisis much better. If she would have been calm and showed the least bit of concern, things wouldn’t have escalated as they did! This employee probably shouldn’t be working with the public!
The next morning, I called the Ironhorse and asked if I would be receiving a refund. The woman on the other line replied, “Absolutely not because you were using profanities to our staff” and hung up the phone up on me! Yes, were both upset, but only because of how we were being treated! Never in my 58 years have I been treated so horribly in a situation that clearly was not our fault! I have traveled a lot, and I am completely shocked of the lack of empathy, or concern for our safety. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Make sure to check the barn doors before...
Read moreWe stayed here at the end of March, and our stay was overall lovely and we had no complaints. However, after our stay we realized we forgot that we left a personal item and called them the next day. (Yes I'm human and I forget things sometimes!) It was thankfully found, but to this day, over one month later, we have not received it. We were willing to pay any extra fees for shipping and handling, but were ultimately led on to believe that it would be shipped out. We have called every week for updates on the item and would be told things like "we will ship it out within three days". I would rather be told that they just threw it away instead of giving us false hope for receiving the item. The last phone call told us that they did not see it and that they probably shipped it out. It has been around 2 weeks, and of course; nothing. If they wanted us to give up, then they got what they wanted. Not to mention, every time we were on the phone with them, we have felt like our situation was an afterthought and would sometimes get hung up on during the phone call. It has been so frustrating trying to be patient when it feels like we will never receive it. I really wanted to enjoy my overall experience and opinion of the Iron Horse Inn, but at a time where they could have provided some customer service and hospitality, it seemed like they could...
