I had gotten a haircut and blowout by Suzette at the end of December. It was such a bad experience for me as a first time client at this salon. I was looking for a new long term hairstylist, as mine moved to away and it’s been a struggle trying to find someone who understands how to do my hair.
My appointment was on a Sunday. When I first entered Suzette was with her son for a few mins then took me out back to wash my hair. She was super standoffish, rude and almost didn’t say a word the entire appointment. The layers came out nicely but the face frame layers made me look like Dora the explorer, it was so off putting. It didn’t flow at all with the rest of my hair. I told her I always wanted bangs and she quickly shut that down by saying “I don’t think that’s a good idea. You gotta be able to maintain that and if you don’t know how, you shouldn’t do it”. That’s a really weird response to a client wanting something done. How about you as the professional, give the client tips and info on HOW to maintain the bangs instead of saying no..
Anyway, my blowout looked really pretty for about 10mins after I left the salon. My hair was flat and frizzy. I’m not good at doing my own hair but I managed to learn how to do blowouts/curls and straighten it so I left extremely disappointed with how bad it looked. It cost $75 + I tipped her $20 because it was near the holidays but she didn’t deserve that at all. She didn’t even say “thank you” afterwards and didn’t even say “bye” to me. I’m writing my review after several months because I saw another first time client had a negative experience with her so I thought I should share mine too. This experience had put me off from going back to Glow or any other salon for awhile.
Management needs to do better and teach their hairstylists (the ones who lack) customer service. That is more important than anything. I’d like to add that I also paid a deposit and was told they couldn’t find any records of that so I had to show them proof from my venmo account. This is an unprofessional salon and needs to do better if they want to...
Read moreWent to glow beauty bar last week to get a gelx manicure and blowout! Loved the blowout and would totally recommend that!! However, I didn’t have the best experience getting a brand new GelX set with Kris, and I’d suggest being wary of booking that specific service with that tech. During the appointment itself, I mentioned I wanted to get the gelx shorter about three times, and the tech said she couldn’t go any shorter, I’ve had shorter gelx in the past, but not my area of expertise, so I just let it rock. Tech suggested a color, I agreed to it, but then I asked if we can add a chrome, she nodded but I guess she didn’t hear me because at the end of the manicure when I asked about it, she said it was too late (at my usual salon, it’s the last step so I didn’t bring it up sooner, that’s on me). That wasn’t the main issue though, there were heaping amounts of glue under the nail (pictured below) which was both uncomfortable and in my opinion, quite unprofessional. Before I could speak up, Kris was already gone. Luckily, I brought it up to the team at glow bar and they quickly fixed it and added the chrome. I was happy with the end result, paid the full price, and left.
The reason for this review, is that less than two weeks after the manicure, one of my nails completely fell off. I have never had gelx last me less than three weeks, it typically lasts me a month which is why it’s my preferred set of choice. It’s one thing to not provide the best experience, I can get over that if the end results last, which in this case they did not.
I know GelX is somewhat newer compared to other options, so I’d recommend only having techs that are 100% comfortable doing it offer that service.
Worth noting, I was visiting the area, so I couldn’t go to my regular spot back home. This was a brand new set, so the glue was not a result of any...
Read moreAbsolutely in love with this place! Get so many services done here and it’s always a great experience. I love how I can get so much done in one location with amazing professionals and can confidently recommend this salon to anyone, knowing folks will find what they’re looking for. It’s a diverse workplace offering a range of services. I’ve also gotten services from numerous folks and everyone is excellent in their craft. Not one bad experience.
Really want to shoutout my two main service providers at the salon and MVPs - AllI and Ana - for keeping me together. I am so grateful for them. If you want to find a colorist who is a master at her work, I can’t recommend Alli enough. Truly has transformed my hair by helping me find a color range that works for me but also allowing me to experiment, and has helped my hair grow healthier as well with her cuts! I started going to Ana for my manicures/nails, looking for a nail tech that can do my nails well enough that they don’t break at the gym, but also look fun. Ana is insanely talented, I am amazed every time. Show her a design, a vision for your nails, and watch her work her magic. I never thought I’d be able to get such beautiful and creative designs, but it’s something I look forward to every session.
Thanks Maria and team for creating a space that is welcoming and comforting along with providing top tier services. I’ve been a long time customer, and can confidently say this salon has got “it”. Special shout outs to Alli for leading a great team and for taking care of my hair; Ana for bringing life and color to my manicures; Emi for always doing a lovely job on my pedicures; Carly for helping my natural lashes with her lash lifts and providing my mom with the best false lashes; and the rest of the team, like Cheyenne and Suzie, for always being great.
Truly an...
