Update: Wow, it is very sad to see the lies the owner posted in their response. I was never unkind to the staff and never demanded a full refund. I shared that would be appreciated and said $20 giftcard did not feel sufficient.
I invite the owner to reflect on their dishonest response and take accountability for ghosting me through communication. So sad that this is their response as there are many of our school friends who enjoy going there. Unfortunately, our kid groups will need to find another place as dishonesty is ugly and unethical.
Be careful if you decide to purchase custom orders with them.
Original review: I regret to have to give such a bad review but after being ghosted by the owner it really gives me no other choice than write a disappointing review on both the product and customer service.
I went with vanilla bean because of the good reviews and wanted to support a small business in our town. Unfortunately, that didn’t go well.
I went in person to see the option for a frozen themed ice cream cake almost a month before my kid’s birthday. I ordered a large sheet and paid cash in full that day. I asked when it would be made to know how fresh it’d be. They said it would be made the same week I would pick it up, a few days before.
Our spring break travel plans changed and we decided to have two birthdays back to back instead of one. For that reason I called a week ahead of pick up and asked to change my order from one large sheet to two small sheets. This cost more and I was okay paying more for this adjustment. They told me my cake was already made but they would be able to make the change as it wasn’t a problem at all.
This entire time I spoke to a young lady in the store when I first ordered and on the phone. The staff helping me were friendly and nice.
However, when my husband brings the two cakes back, they vete sloppy, the colors are not the same and it does not look like cakes that cost over $125. If i knew the presentation was going to be very different from their cake book, I would have gone with a grocery store frozen cake that looks much nicer than a small business. See the pictures attached.
I try to call the shop and the owner wasn’t available when I called. I messaged on Instagram and had some responses then was told the only thing they could do is give me a $20 gift card for the inconvenience. This wouldn’t even cover single cones for my immediate family.
I wasn’t satisfied with this as my kid was upset not only once but for both parties. And, it simply was not what I ordered. It all feels as false advertisement as their response was simply that the cakes can look different after being made.
I understand there is variation but this is pretty bad.
I continued to message with them on Instagram and told them the information I share here. They didn’t reply for a few days and I followed up asking to resolve this. To this day, now two months later, I’ve been ghosted with no response.
Their customer service is poor and do not care about their tricky marketing. If you’re considering a cake, ensure you communicate exactly what you want or you will risk your cake looking different and...
Read moreWanted to get my mom out of the house, and decided to take her out for some ice cream, and she was not disappointed. We were immediately greeted by the friendly, masked staff. The shop was very clean, and cutely decorated. Tables were being disinfected and cleaned by one of the employees. The store was offering a special variety of flavors of hard ice cream for "Christmas in July", hot cocoa, egg nog, grasshopper, etc. They also had a sign indicating their banana fosters flavor won "Best in NJ" for some category. My mother chose this as her ice cream selection, and was extremely pleased. She had a generously sized medium in a cup, and ate it all!! I had a medium ice cream soda made with hard ice cream. Yum!! I chose a flavor I have not seen before, chocolate cookies and cream! It was perfectly delicious! I love that they offered me the option of using just plain seltzer as one of my choices of soda. There is plenty of indoor seating, and some outdoor seating. From start to finish every moment of our interaction was friendly, professional, clean, and delicious!! I highly recommend adding this establishment to your ice cream stops. I've already told the rest of my family to get there and...
Read moreCranford Vanilla Bean Creamery is my favorite local ice cream shop! It just opened up again after taking a winter break, and I was so excited that they had returned that a friends and I actually went on their first reopening night. It was 37 degrees, rainy and cold, but that didn’t deter us from getting some of this delicious ice cream. They have many flavors and they make all of it in house. But I’m going to be honest with you. I have something there that I love there so much, I’ve only tried it and nothing else. My dream ice cream sundae at Vanilla Bean Creamery is the Banana Nut Pie Sundae. It is their award winning Banana’s Foster ice cream, caramel, pecans and whip cream. It is so good! I honestly am not really a dessert person, but I daydream about this sundae sometimes. It’s that good! Maybe banana ice cream is not your thing , but you will have plenty to choose from at VBC, and you will not be...
