We went in but there was no gate. Not sure if we found a difference. Not well marked. Cars parked all over. I had a pass so I wouldn’t have paid, but they really should once entrance so the National park service could make money. I’d recommend even if I had to pay. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

This is a small visitors center. You'll find maybe one or two staff inside and a limited selection of souvenirs. There are a few minor exhibit signs outside in the courtyard. Staff will close the visitor center for lunch so be sure to plan your arrival outside the normal lunch times.

The staff was excellent and gave us important information about the rock slide on 101. Showed us a 100 year old picture of the Boy Scout Tree and told us how to hike there. Amazing place to experience the magnificent redwoods!

Unfriendly staffs. They wasted us lots of time asked unnecessary questions. They gave us false information. It's only half hour drive but the old man told us 1 hour. Also wrong trail information. Wrong trail head and wrong trail length. We wasted hours to find the trail head. I would advise go other visitor center for real...

the female working there (I think her name was Jane) was very kind! she was the only one working and it seemed too busy for just one person to handle. but she helped me redeem my junior ranger badge and offered some suggestions for Jedediah Smith. they had nice postcards and souvenirs and passport stamps for a few...
