Edit: well you canât see the owners response now but apparently they feel like seals naturally throw balls in little hoops in the wild, that itâs in their nature, that this isnât entertainment itâs just a âfun wayâ to learn about seals (like how they throw hoops in a basket, super educational!) and that all of this is actually good because they are rescued and apparently that means their life is now indebted to them.
If you actually ethically want to learn about seals go to the Marine Mammal Center. Those seals are being healed, rescued, and released and they arenât treated like little clowns. Those people there certainly know a lot more about seals than these people.
This is just a west coast version of Sea World. You think the seals are having fun being entertainment everyday? On the California coast Tidepools are protected, starfish rare as well, but here those lovely creatures get to be prodded at all day by people. The shark petting is weird, just a poor little shark is a shallow tank with nothing around it?
Animals arenât your entertainment, this is exploitation
EDIT: just because you saved an animal doesnât make it your little tap dancer. Seals do not naturally perform tricks and take treats from humans in the wild. Nice condescending talk though, if people want real ethical education from people whoâve rescued seals that wouldâve died i encourage they go to the Marine Mammal Center, in which you can learn all about seals that are healed and released and not have them perform tricks for your entertainment.
A fun way = entertainment.
What youâre doing is wrong. Animals donât belong in tanks and cages and they are not...
Read moreReview from a mom of 2 under 2: I read the reviews and thought I knew what we were in for. We arrived and paid at 10:28, thinking tours ran every 30 minutes. We were told it would be about a 10-minute wait â totally doable for keeping my almost 2-year-old entertained (and away from all the shiny glass items at his level in the gift shop).
A few notes for other parents: if you have a stroller, be aware there are no automatic doors,(UPDATE from 10/23/25 there are no automatic doors and if you are in a wheelchair or in a stroller you will need to have a second person there to open the door for you... sorry but that does not sound very handicap accessible) and the T-shirt section of the gift shop is only accessible by stairs, so I couldnât check those out. After waiting about 25 minutes, the tour finally started.
If Iâd known there were going to be stairs on the tour, I wouldâve used the extra time to grab my baby carrier â carrying both a baby and a stroller up and down a large flight of stairs was not ideal. That said, the seal show was definitely the highlight of the visit and made it worth it. Overall, it was a fun experience, but I wish the staff had been clearer about the real wait times and the accessibility challenges (stairs, no elevator). âď¸âď¸âď¸/5 â Great for families, but not the easiest with littles...
Read moreStop here!!!! This is such a fun little place. The gift shop is the coolest thing ever. They have soooo much cool stuff. From fine art to kids cute little sea creature inspired toys this place has so much. Beautiful things and something for everyone. The prices kind of surprised me. The store was very reasonable as well as the tours. The tours are very cool. The place is good size but still smaller then most attractions so the tour groups were small which allowed for more time to explore. The guide was very nice, very very knowledgeable and didn't seem to rush us in the least. You could tell the tour guide really loved his job and wanted the kids to have a great time. They have a touch tank with all types of sea creatures in it for you to touch. You go inside to awesome under ground aquariums filled with Ray's, colorful rock fish and all kinds of neat things. Then you get to go watch the seals do tricks very close up. The seals were the sweetest and the show was really cute. Then you get to go to a awesome tank and pet sharks. Real sharks that you can sit and pet as long as you want. I really enjoyed our stop here and my kids cant...
