Lake School Park — Attraction in Creve Coeur

A peaceful park with a strange and unsettling past...

Lake School Park looks calm now a playground, some tennis courts, and a quiet, tucked-away vibe. But not long ago, a small house sat on the edge of the old Lake School property. It was recently demolished due to safety concerns, but its reputation had been anything but ordinary for decades.

Locals used to talk about that little house in hushed tones stories of odd lights hovering above it, strange noises in the night, and even claims of alien abductions tied to that exact location. Most of these tales date back over 50 years, but for those who grew up nearby, the eerie energy never fully left.

The school is gone. The house is gone. But something about the park still feels… off. It’s quiet too quiet at times. The kind of place where you get that feeling like you’re being watched.

This park is nice and shady and secluded but it’s odd because everything is so high off the ground .... it’s like a foot at least of mulch or ground is missing from underneath the play structures. Just be careful when you have little ones under 4yrs. For example. The swings are like 4 feet off the ground and the bottom of the slides are 2 ft high.
