Edit: the crowd is less now. The equipment is still great! However, the restroom area needs to be improved!
I am a member of Gold's Gym in the DFW area since 2018, and i hate to give a critical review of this gym, but something that happened today prompted me to post this review.
I started going to this location since the one in Richardson is now closed permanently. I get it that this is more like a bodybuilding gym where tripods and recording are allowed unlike the one in Richardson where it's not allowed. During peak hours, it's not uncommon to walk through 2-3 tripods accidentally when the fitness influencers film themselves.
Just don't record me stretching. Unfortunately, that's what happened to me today. Like some of the previous posts, there are some creepy people here that take advantage of the recording policy. I was doing some yoga stretches (cat stretch) and when I was done and looked up - BAM there was a guy "recording his friend working out" right in front of me while I was stretching the whole time. This didn't happen like halfway across the room. This recording happened literally 3 steps away from me, and when I looked up, I can see the circular lenses of the phone pointing at me.
Right now, I'm strongly considering switching gyms after being with golds for 5 consecutive years (I've supported them through the pandemic). If you workout only during peak hours and personal space is important to you, then this place is not a good place for you. The whole gym area is smaller than most planet fitness gyms I've been to, and I feel this place has oversold with its $25 membership deal. Like some of the previous posts mentioned, some of the crowd here are...
Read moreI came alone one day, all lonely and sad and one of the front staff noticed. He approached me and asked me what’s wrong, which I responded “I don’t have nobody to work out with. I need a gym bro!!!“ :( this dude literally ripped his work clothes off and revealed his gym shark clothes and said “ I got you bro” gave me firm hand shake and a hug. When then dry scooped two scoops of pre workout, a scoop of creatine, turnt up the radio and went towards the racks. This was one of the most fantastic, splendid work out session I ever had. He motivated me enough too not only beat the world record deadlift, but I surpassed the world record bench by 100 lbs. If this wasn’t enough, he then brought me to the break lounge. I was intimidated. I thought he was gonna go on demon time, and I don’t roll like that. He insisted so I said fine, but to a surprise he was cooking up some chicken, rice, and putting vegetables on two plates. He then asked me about my favorite protein flavor . I was stunned with the amazing costumer service and with tears on my eyes, I said with a high pitch voice “vanilla”. He made me a vanilla protein shake right away. We proceeded to eat and chit chat for a while. Gave me the most important talk I ever had. He really touched heart. I FELT LIKE I WAS IN HEAVEN!! If anyone has any concerns about this new gym, just don’t. I had the best experience of my life here and so will everyone. THANK YOU...
Read moreMy only real complaint is that it's really crowded on weeknights and it isn't open long enough. There's always people in there with me at 10:50 scrambling to finish once the desirable machines finally clear up. Other than that I really like the steakhouse lighting, the machine selection, the overall vibes, and the trainer I was paired with. As for the complaints in these reviews: the employees don't always say hi at the desk, but who cares? We're there to work out not to socialize with the employees lol. And I've been coming here since April and I have only seen a broken machine once, and it was fixed within the week. Also, I dont know what these men are out here doing, but the women's bathroom is always clean. I will admit it is frequently quite crowded with people who look like they could be my son 🤣👵🏼, but I think that just means it's a sought-after gym. If y'all could just stay open until midnight on weeknights and ten on weekends, that...
