Just got an oil change here and I’m pretty frustrated. I was told the price would be $85 and with my $25 coupon it would be brought down to $60 plus tax. I was told this over the phone and when I got in, they told me otherwise. I understand having a service fee, but charging someone $14 for an oil filter, plus $85 for an oil change is absolutely ridiculous. It did not take me long to research that most places include the oil filter as part of their oil change price. Take five does not. This wouldn’t have been so frustrating. Had I not asked the guy if there were any additional fees before hand. If he had mentioned that there would be a charge for the oil filter separately from the oil change itself, I would’ve done more research and may be gone somewhere else. It wasn’t until the service was already concluded That they had told me I was going to be paying $14 extra. Withholding information or lying to customers is pretty crappy. Not to mention, an oil filter is recommended every one to two oil changes depending on frequency. It isn’t mandatory, but they had already replaced it so I had no choice. Ella hadn’t done Research prior to this. It’s a scummy business practice to tell someone that you have to change something and not even make them aware, especially when they ask you beforehand about any extra services.
On an unrelated note, I had to turn him down three times when he asked for my ID. I can’t stand it when companies take your information down and sell it to other people, so I asked him why he needed my ID seeing as how he asked for it at the very end of our business. Since I was frustrated and didn’t want to keep pressing the issue, I ended up giving him my name and email. Thankfully, he misspelled it, so I’m not likely to Receive a barrage of emails, But having to turn him down three times before he will drop it and move on, was...
Read moreNo one knew how to reset oil light, and had to look it up on youtube. One of the staff members didn’t know how to open the hood. Staff did not inspire confidence.
So apparently there's not a way to add a second review. I decided to give Take 5 another chance and have had a few oil changes performed there since my original review. Top of the line Castrol Edge, all recommended filters replaced, etc. Service was not great, but I prefer Castrol products so I went back. I learned how to reset the light on the BMW myself, so that will no longer be an issue. HOWEVER,
I had my vehicle inspected there. Apparently there was a delay in their submitting the inspection data to the state and I will not be able to renew my car tag on line before the expiration date (at which point they won't renew on line). I tried to call them for several hours and no one answered the phone. I finally reached someone shortly before they closed. They guy had no information or answers for me and simply suggested that I could simply go stand in line and get my tag renewed at a tax office or grocery store as I have the print out from the inspection. The whole reason I continue to go there is the "no contact" business model as I have a compromised immune system and am trying to social distance. Had there not been a problem, I'd have been able to renew on line, rather than risk exposing myself Covid risk un-necessarily. So. I reduced my rating to one star, and will not return. I will also contact the folks I had recommended Take5 to and share my experience. These guys really have a cavalier attitude about customer service and it seems to...
Read moreI went to the Take 5 on Preston road in Dallas on Monday, December 23. I was greeted by Jose, and he did my oil change. Another guy named Booker came up to my car and asked me how long it has been since I got my coolant flushed. I said about 10k miles ago. I showed him my receipt from the other place I got that done. He said "well it is black. Look!" And showed me the coolant holder was black. He then showed me a device that supposedly was testing my coolant in it, and said yes your coolant is very bad. And I asked him, "so the other place lied and didn't do my coolant?" And he said yes, so i told Booker i would go drive to talk to the other location to see if they could fix it and explain why. So instead of paying $140 extra for that, i took my car back to the original location that did my coolant. The guys at the integrity automotive tested my coolant right in front of me with a pipet, and it was perfectly light orange. They said that the blackness was the dirt on the outside of the coolant container. So Booker lied to me, and tried to get me to pay $140 to "fix" my coolant. I am very upset and will NEVER return to a take 5 location. I used to go every time I got an oil change but not now. Extremely horrible dishonest people you...
