Usually we have an amazing experience with the owner- he’s so vivacious and makes sure you’re taken care of and set for a good time with good food. Today unfortunately was not great. The front desk guy was on his phone the entire time and I am not joking, the entire hour and a half we were here. The girl server maybe checked on us twice. When we were ready to order and to come get one plate out of the way at the end. We ordered tequenos to start off with and she forgot to put them in so we never got them. We don’t mind that, it happens, but everything added up as we were the only people in the restaurant and basically ignored the whole time, we would get up to get our own drinks and my husbands arepa took about 15 minutes after everyone had their food already. I think we found out there was only one chef in the kitchen so we didn’t mind the wait (and she was very sweet) The food here is never the problem, it’s always amazing which is why we keep coming back. I’m posting this hoping they see this to have better customer service because we love this place and want to see it continue to thrive!

I really enjoyed the food. My spouse and I split a grilled chicken arepa ($12) and a few empanadas ($4.50 each). The empanadas were huge and came out piping hot. They had a thick cornmeal crust (kinda like a corndog) and were stuffed with delicious flavorful meats. The arepa was excellent - the grilled chicken tasted perfect. And the restaurant served a white sauce on the side that was an amazing accompaniment to the food. Drinks were cans/bottles of soda and water. My only wishes would be for a soda fountain and for the arepa to be served with a side like rice/beans, or plantains, or even just some chips. It was also my first time eating Venezuelan food, and I would have loved to have a menu with pictures or descriptions of the food. We ended up trying to figure out what things were by looking at pictures on Google.

4.5 rounding up to 5. First time here and it was an enjoyable experience. I've had arepas before but this was one different in that it was pretty big and the cheese wasn't melted. I got the arepa with cheese and they had other cheese options that possibly had melted cheese. It was a little greasy and salty with the cheese. Next time will get a different one or meat with it to add more flavor. The pabellon empanada definitely more than made up for it. It was loaded with flavor and fried to order. It had shredded beef, black beans, plantains, and other veggies like bell peppers in there. Every bite was an explosion of flavor that was very balanced. The sauce they gave with it also helped balance all the flavors. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu. The portions are big!

First timer turned life timer! As soon as we walked in the gentleman in the front greeted us, was very friendly and helped us navigate the menu.

Once we figured out what we wanted we ordered and didn't have to wait long before our food came out. For appetizers we ordered the Tequinos and Fried Sweet Plantains. The Tequinos came with some cilantro crema which both were delicious; the sweet plantains also came with some type of crema and shredded mozzarella cheese which we didn't care for but the sweet plantains were good none the less. My husband and I shared the Patacon Picaña, which is like a sub sandwich but with a fried plantain instead of bread....and oh my gosh it was amazing! The Picana was so tender and flavorful, I'm glad we split it because that thing was huge! My Mom and daughter ordered the Arepa pollo and they were stuffed full to the brim with chicken and cheese galore. They both said it was really good.

At the end of the meal we were too stuffed to eat dessert, but we did order the flan to go. It was really good, especially when we topped it with strawberries! We are already planning out what we're picking next time we go.

10/10...

Delicious, very filling food, but the service was a bit odd. I think we were supposed to either seat ourselves or order at the counter, but there's nothing around to indicate that, so we stood around for maybe five minutes before someone saw us and had us sit down. Waiter never really checked on us, never brought us our water, so we had to get up and get our own from the fridge-- I didn't mind that, but I wish they'd just told us to get it ourselves. The food took forever to arrive, almost 45 minutes. The appetizer came about five minutes before our meals. But it was worth it! I think the place just needs to up their service game a bit; it wasn't bad but you gotta expect to serve people who don't know how your place might work. I think we'll stick to ordering pick up next time, as the food is outstanding, and finding a Venezuelan restaurant in Dallas is...
