I would give the 0 stars if not for Cruz. Cruz is maintenance here and he is an absolute badass. 5 stars for him, and I hope he finds a better place to work or is paid very well.
The transition from Bell Bishop to Bell Rock Bishop was absolute trash. The new management is not very competent, severely understaffed, does not hold themselves accountable and are as a result defensive and aggressive whenever you bring a problem to them, whether or not you're trying to find a solution with them as a team. Overall it was just a horrible experience after they came in.
The community changed to be much more dangerous and much less friendly. There were a lot more fights in the parking lot, issues with people urinating in public spaces like someone's porch, and there was a considerable uptick in the amount of people who were actively involved in crime in my building. There were also two shootings in the complex over the course of maybe a month and a half, and one instance where a man took an AK down to the office because he was angry at management. I know for a fact that the management lied to residents about the first shooting, which was a break in by a resident into another unit that resulted in gunshots going through into someone else's unit. The other was because people were mad at the tow truck driver who was picking up cars that didn't have their tags.
On that topic, shooting out a tow trucker isn't reasonable at all of course, but I don't blame anyone for being irritated. The tow truck system that they have set up is absolutely nonsense. They have maybe NINE guest spaces for a 200 unit complex and anyone who parks there without registering or parks anywhere else will be towed expediently. Management changed the tags for the cars three times, and for a good few months the registration for guests wasn't even set up. So even if you tried to follow their rules friends were towed! Any communication with management over these issues was ignored.
Before, you could just park in the front area in between buildings that wasn't gated off. There is not enough parking in general, and the new management cracked down on illegal spaces and guest parking. In theory that's a good idea, but overall it made the parking situation so much worse because there's just not enough over there.
There were multiple incorrect charges put on my account in the last months I lived here, and I know many other residents who had the same issue.
The Luxor package system was added by the new management and resulted in considerably more lost and stolen packages, and sometimes the door wouldn't even work properly. No biggie normally, but try to ask for help? You just get rude dismissal that it's not their problem. They didn't even have a code to get in themselves for a while.
When they were in the process of changing out key fobs from old management no email was sent out that our fobs no longer worked. We had a solid two days with no access to the doors unless management was there, and then a solid two months during which nothing was locked at all.
Quentin never answers emails, and very rarely Olga will if you hound her. The lack of communication made the whole thing worse. I get transition issues but come on, guys.
Additionally, the lack of regard for the eviction freeze that was in place due to the pandemic, and the lack of cooperation with tenants setting up financial aid for rent assistance was just... Ugh. They definitely tried to illegally evict several people, but I know that's not an issue isolated to this complex.
Finally, they charged us 700 for carpet replacement when we left. Absolute bullshit, especially since they refused to replace the carpet when we renewed our lease initially. It was in great shape but sure, replace it after it had been occupied for two years. Charging us, though? Nonsense, and not in the lease we signed with the previous management.
Overall, I loved this place for two years and really wanted to try to stay, but as the problems kept adding up I chose to leave. Would...
Read moreUPDATE: I've been here for about 7 months now and I love my place. It's really quiet and I normally don't see or really hear my neighbors unless they're in the hallway. The ladies in the office are really nice and maintenance responds to requests in a timely manner.
The only thing I really dislike is how small the parking spots are. They are really little and I often find my car getting new dings. Also, there's no way to let guess or delivery drivers into the gate unless you manually come out and do it. The delivery people also often get confused on how to get through building 1 after hours for the package room and they'll leave your packages outside, but that's really not the complex problem.
The dog owners need to do a better job at cleaning up after their dogs, especially when they use the restroom in the halls or the stairs, either way they need to do better overall.
Overall not too many complaints.
l’m a flight attendant and I knew it was possible I’d have a trip on my move in date: I called 2 weeks prior to my move in date to ask if I can move on the 30th instead of the 31st. I spoke with Priscilia who stated I could. Today I get here to pick up my keys there was a sign on the door that stated they would be at lunch until 3:15pm, cool, 3:15pm became 3:30. 1st strike but I was in good spirits. Then she, (Priscilia) proceeded to ask me what she could help me with, I stated I was there to pick up keys, she told me my move in date was on 8/31, I proceeded let her know she's the one I spoke to and said the 30th will be fine.
She then makes a call, after she gets off the phone she says that I can’t get my keys until after Labor Day, 9/3, because they’ll be closed, and they moved peoples move in date because of the holiday. Sooooooo when in the hell was someone going to say something. Not only that, if you don’t remember having that conversation with me, you just said my move was 8/31, sooo what happened to that? This is ridiculous I have to be out of my now apartment on 9/1 and I have a work trip on top of that and if you know anyone that’s a flight attendant we just can’t call out at the drop of a dime without being penalized. I’m beyond pissed, this is no way in any shape or form my fault. I will no longer work with anyone who isn’t the manager and of course she isn’t even here.i have my car packed up to the brim, not only that my old place is in Fort Worth, that’s a whole hour drive and now you’re telling me I can’t move in! Bullshit!
I came in on a whelm to view an apartment and the girls were having lunch. I told them don’t rush and Viven ended up helping me. She has been the sweetest through the whole process. We laughed and giggled through the whole viewing. While applying she was very responsive the whole process and very encouraging. I can’t wait to move in the whole staff was nice and polite and reading the reviews I believe I would...
Read moreMy stay here, while generally nice, was not worth it in the end. Some of the issues experienced here were with things that cheaper complexes usually experience--- not a $1300+ loft type- apartment community located in Oak Cliff.
-When it comes to staff: the maintenance crew is awesome, assistant manager (Brandi) is great and that is about it (based on my interactions). I signed with different management and new management seemed unorganized and unsure. -Parking is horrible--the spots are small for SUVs and there aren't enough spaces vs. vehicles. People ruin each other's cars all the time. They push the (pricey) reserved spots and garages so they don't have to really address this issues. Your guests will most likely park on the street whenever they come. While not terrible, the option to park somewhere safer is usually slim due to residents using visitor parking?? Come experience the parking at night for a true demonstration! Worse than a college apt community. -The community gates are ALWAYS broken---always (no exaggeration). Several times I did not feel safe at night walking to my door because the parking gate was broke, side gate was broke, and the gate to enter into the apts was broke (all at the same time for several days at a time). Or left open by residents! -Very clean property. Looks nice inside and outside (I had a great pool view and the apartment amenities worked very well! When I needed something fixed; they came out no later than 24hrs business day) -Valet trash is cool (if you get off work/come home in time to have it outside). For a $25 required fee, I took my own trash out majority of the time. -The complex ammenities are generally good (pool, fitness, activities, bike shop, etc) -Living near (not in) Bishop Arts District is cool. -Your apartment is ventilated pretty good and I rarely heard my neighbors. -My welcome mat became missing and I brought this issue up to the team, twice. The floors were being cleaned and they moved everyone's mats. Mine wasn't returned. They offered to pay for a brand new one because they could not find mine. I sent the info in, Brandi sent it to the manager, and she never responded. I didn't bother any further because I knew, one day, I would write this review.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay but regretted signing my lease within 3 months of moving in. Again, the price vs. experience was not worth it. My review is honest based on my 14 month stay. I never write reviews for anything---not even my Bible app. But I figured this might be...
