My girlfriend has never been bowling before so I thought it'd be cute to take her. I'm not from this area so I didn't know any better than to try this bowling alley. When we walked in, "sweet home Alabama" was playing. I wouldn't have had problem with that song because I get it. An alley full of nothing but white people in Dalton, GA would 9 times out of 10 enjoy that song. Cool. But it feels like whenever I walk into a place full of white people playing music especially in Dalton, they change it to try to accommodate me. Next thing i know, they're playing "because I got high" and I don't even smoke. There were kids there and that's extremely inappropriate for a business. I don't even let my kid listen to music like that or with profane language in it. I would have been able to concentrate bowling better with country music playing. It's what I expecting from Dalton anyway. What really upset me is this alley apparently didn't have the technology to pick up standing pins and re-sweep fallen pins left from the initial sweep. Call me nitpicky but it's a little difficult to focus on the pin(s) standing when there are fallen pins still on/in the lane. I asked an associate to fix it and she said "if I fix it, it'll (basically) count as a redo." I didn't want another chance at a strike. I just wanted the fallen fin(s) out of the way. I had no idea it was hard to do seeing that I've bowled in many alleys prior to this one. After that, a pin fell in the gutter and stayed there after the sweep and I didn't even bother to ask for assistance because of the response from the first mishap. I ended up aiming straight for the pin in the gutter and it ended up hitting pins still standing. Some people can tune it out. Some can't. That caused an error in the system and a long delay waiting for assistance from an employee who was more focused on a dog in the lobby or something. When you pay for the time to bowl, it'd be nice to actually get what you pay for instead of pauses due to frequent inconveniences. Im sure most visitors will enjoy this alley. I, on the other hand, will try different ones...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE & BOWLING ALLEY. We first started bowling on lane 3 in the middle of the game we got moved to lane 7 because our lane quit working. When we got to lane 7 we finished up our first game of bowling ( on sundays itās ā supposeā to be buy one game and get one game free) our group paid separate and was suppose to have a total of four games. In the middle of our second game our lane 7 quit working as well. NO apologies NOTHING. After waiting to have them ā fixā lane 7 for about 15 mins I asked them to move us AGAIN bc we were tired of waiting.. she moved us to lane 6 ( still on our second) we finished with our second game and the screen proceeded to tell us we needed to return to the desk to add more games.. I told the guy at the front desk that we were suppose to have a total of four games and we have only played two of our games ( as we have been moved twice) HE ARGUED WITH ME and proceeded to tell me that I played what I paid for.. I tried to explain to him we only played two games and he didnāt care. I once again tried to explain and he STILL was arguing with me and said ā I can give you one game but not twoā. WE SHOULD OF HAD TWO GAMES LEFT NOT ONE. Also, Iām annoyed bc we were moved multiple times and they didnāt even care to apologize!!!! We left. Who would want to stay ā one gameā he would of ā gaveā us when he was arguing with me!!! I said no we are going to leave and he agreed that we needed to. Worst customer service, worst management & worst bowling alley to move us multiple times because the lanes stop working. Go to this bowling alley if you want to wait to have your lane get ā fixedā and pay for games you donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to Retro Bowl today Sunday (April 10th 2022). It costed a little under $40 bucks for four adults including shoe rental for 4 games which took an hour and a half.
It was very clean and cool inside, they had friendly staff, and it wasn't that busy in the early afternoon.
No food or drinks served. There is a snack bar there but it's closed. They also have a small arcade that you can win tickets for prizes which seemed to be more entertaining than the bowling.
My only complaints are:
The entire time we bowled they had two workers doing maintenance on the lanes and they walked across our lane several times while we were playing with was a distraction.
About 4 to 5 different times on our lane it gave us a spare on the show card when it wasn't a spare. It was very odd. I told the front desk staff and she gave a pretty poor explanation. She said it was basically normal on the lane i was on because the pin setter wasn't adjusted correctly. I would of been upset if I was actually playing too win the game and not for fun.
Other than those issues we had a great time and seemed to be the most cost family...
