As far as a library goes: computers, DVD's, CD's, books, children's section, there are plenty of all of these resources. My main complaint is that Libraries were traditionally known as a quiet place. This is far from that. It's more like a school cafeteria environment. The staff is helpful, but also complicit, as they themselves are responsible for a lot of the noise. If you go to Bethel's Library, it's completely the opposite. Just because one is a city Library and one is a town one, shouldn't make a difference. People talk on their phones, have conversations, arguments, etc. They have a security guard that's happy to flex his chest for the small offenders like changing the type of chair from the computer section with the main section. I do this as I have a bad back. I've been reprimanded because of this. The real offenders continue on with impunity. You really should work on making the Library as quiet as you can. That's what a Library is supposed to be and what the taxpayers...
Read moreOne of the workers named Marlene was terrible towards me. She was rude and dismissive when I simply wanted to ensure my daughter was taken care of after not visiting the library in some time. How are people like this still working in customer service. Definitely put a damper on my daughter's library visit today. And NO this had nothing to do with her hearing impairment as stated in response because she heard me fine. She didn't ignore me but instead cut me off and told me she was done helping me and my daughter and now helping someone else (and no I didn't interrupt their conversation). The other customer even told her to finish helping me because she could see I still had questions The employee Marlene told me if I needed something else I could ask another employee. This is not behavior conducive to any impairment but more the result of an individual who felt superior for whatever reason. And she didn't even have the decency to apologize for making me feel in such a way. Like I said poor...
Read moreThe Danbury Library provides excellent services to the public. It is a relatively small library, but the staff are all superb. They are knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and dedicated. The book and video collections are small, but good and well selected. Because it is a small library, the collections could be improved--but this is not the NYPL system, and it is good. Above all, the library is a welcoming place dedicated to the education, entertainment, enrichment, and well-being of the community.
The children's library is excellent and the programs for children are extensive and wonderful.
One of the library's valuable resources is an extensive language lab focused primarily on teaching English to immigrants. It is an underused resource, but I am sure that it has been invaluable to...
